I am planning a 4 bucket system but have just one ? I am using a 3 part nutrient 1&2 for Veg 2&3 for flower. My ? is after a full add back, of just plain water do I just add small/equal amounts of both till I reach the desired PPM.

Any help would be great I am just in the study my ass off faze of this build. I am running with a simple single bucket rdwc for the time being.

I am super glad I found this form with so many like minds and the friendliness and willingness to share our passion and knowledge

May Cannabis be with you always

Hi Dennis,
Yes, that's what I've always done- top off the nutes until I get the desired starting EC. With GH three-part nutes I know you should mix in the Micro first per their mixing instructions. If you ask GH, they will always advise you to dump the old res and mix up a fresh batch. I think you can guess why!

dennisp74,
keep it simple as you start off with the bio-buckets. when I ran the bio-buckets, I just topped off with RO water using a float valve in the control bucket. As ec drops, add enough nutrients to bring ec back to desired level.

If you haven't built the system yet, you might want to consider the following. Use larger drains or your system will flood. Get a chiller b/c root rot is hell in the bio-bucket. Don't use organics of any kind. I know the theory is that the beneficial bacteria will colonize naturally and protect your rootzone however, I found that bad shit colonizes faster. So, if your going for beneficial bacteria do yourself a favor and use Aquashield (and chiller) from beginning to end (before rot sets in). Or if you don't give a shit about the beneficials, like me, use Dutchmaster zone instead of Aquashield.

ok matey i run a bio filter aswell as buckets which you could call bio buckets aswell as my main res has a self top up from another tank and at the end of each week i check how much add back has been added to the main res then add the right amount of nutes
I havent had any problems with root rot , in fact my roots look the best they ever have and i had a stable ph of 5.5 all the way up to 5 week of flower now for the last few weeks its a stable 5.9 i only add nutes and some thing to boost the benefical bacteria no ph up or down and its the most stable ive had my ph aswell as no rez clean outs im hoping you use this rez on my next grow good luck which ever way you go cheers EASY

Thanks for the help all. And I am going with 2" drain's. I am hoping this isn't to much as the parts are free
:thank you:
