Storage Wars

ANyone seen this! these guys find some crazy stuff, makes me wonder if its rigged. but seriously these guys are only spending a few thousand tops and sometimes they find 10k+ hauls. just watched an episode where they found suge knights possessions. another they found 10k worth of old toys. i have a storage unit full of old hoods and grow equipment and some guns..i would love to come up on my unit. bet i find some a bunch of grow equipment if i went to an auction in oakland lol.

Anyone do this? Anyone know if this show is rigged. makes me wanna go find an auction!

great show, yeah some are likely rigged to keep your interest but also represent the finds that these guys have made in the past, just because it isn't happening candidly each time on TV doesn't mean it didn't happen that way a few months before.

'Auction Hunters' is another of the same type of show and those guys claim it's their 80/20 theory, 80% of the profit is earned from 20% of their lockers.

might be a fun hobby but then a guy needs that storefront just like many of those bidders have to get rid of all the mundane 2nd hand/thrift shop shit you wind up with.......

My mom buys them blind for 50 each, for like a small unit. then she auctions off all the good things she finds, all you need to do is go to storage places and ask if they have any units that people abandoned and if they do if they will sell the contents.

Fuck those acutions thats where you as a buyer get ganked, just buy th entire unit, junk and all and sort it later. I personally dont care to screw with it but it one unit she found 3 ps2's 4-Xbox 360's and 1 360 elite, and in another she found alot of gold jewelery. just buy the units if your wanting to do something like this

I always feel really bad for the people who lost their stuff, but that's me.

I'm likely to buy the shit and go track the people down and give them the personal items.

But if there is grow gear and guns I'm def keeping that part haaaaaaaa ;)

I'd like to see the dates on the $100 bills they find. I'll bet they're all brand new. They "find" too much of value in every episode.

I never purchased a storage unit but I have thought about it for odds & ends if their was things I could see that peeked my Interest.

Don't get me wrong their are some great finds that people get when they buy these units and people die and have no familia so the units get auctioned and buyers can make an honest living from doing this but with todays economy who neds yet another thrift store on the already depressed mini malls pr plaza's we all see since walmart rolled into town..

These reality shows make you sign a release before airing the shows and edit out anything people do not give them permission to air of them so with that said Stoner hit the nail on the head  It's merely to peak viewers Interest ( mines ) and entertain you, and the auction program as well..

I like watching true hardcore porn and a few others like american pickers but all the others are mainly for entertainment but hey it's better then watching american Idol!!

The show is pretty interesting but for every big score they get how many crappy units do they buy. Dave is a jerk. Barry is clueless .

a few months before this show started i was driving around and saw a storage unit place that had a sign out in front saying "auction 8 am tomorrow" so i went in and asked how it worked and stuff. then i was wondering what kinds of cool stuff people have found and the lady said there was one unit with only a small bedside end table in it and some guy bid $50 on it and won it. inside was a shoebox filled with $100,000! it would be fun to go around doing that, but they do end up with alot of crap plus having to employ crews and big trucks to move everything. oh yea. dave is a douche bag

if i had 100k in a showbox i would be a fucking idiot to stop paying my storage fees.

i have some shit stashed in a unit...if they ever auctioned off my shit im gonna go hunting for the guys who bought it lol..

how stupid are some people...leaving a 130k comic book collection to just sit there and not pay their rent or just move the shit out??

Dave needs an attitude adjustment!!!!!
my mom's been going to locker auctions in the bay area for 30 years now
most of the time she's the only one there--that will change now I bet.
lots of trips to goodwill but, lots of great scores that make up for that
kind of a rush

interesting show, some of the contents are hard to understand, i think there was 1 with 2-3k of silver coins
some kind of disaster has to have happened in that kind of situation, person died, in prison, something like that
some of the estimates are cranked up for excitement, there was 1 container with a couple of thousand of newspapers the day Elvis died
'estimated' to 10-20$ per newspaper, but you'd be selling these things for 30+ years, don't see that many collectors wanting to buy those up that quickly

I was interested in these auctions awhile back,In my area theirs a weekly flea market.I became friendly with a few of the vendors.A regular vendor i see all the time, does this for a living .They always have all kinds of random shit for sale. They go to the auctions and bid.

They said in this area it often sucks ,because what they will do .Is put a bunch of empty boxes ,or boxes filled with worthless junk.To raise the bidders bids. But 2 hours south they
say is the place to go,for the bidding...

Just think...you could buy a unit filled with boxes of money from Mexicans that stored it there for safekeeping then got capped and their secret died with them. That's a find you'd probably never here anything about :). Then again someone finds out who bought the unit then track you down...lol!

popularity of these shows is going to make it hard for a while. i'm sure there are a million other people that have seen the show and thought the same thing. go to an auction now and there's probably to many people to deal with.
