So was wondering if anyone checking out my thread knew electrical could help me out?

I'm trying to hook up a mlc-4 to run 4k 240v

This is my main
IMAG0373-1.jpg

I got a 30A breaker/breaker box
IMAG0374.jpg

What I need to know is where do I wire the breaker box to in the main box?

I have some 10/3 wire rated for 30A to go from the main to the breaker and a solid copper ground wire that's also 10awg with a clamp.

I believe I have everything to do the job just don't know exactly how to do it,the guy i had lined up to do it got called out to a job for 4+months so he's fucking out and im fucking in.

Please someone help?

GT I work in the HVAC industry and know a thing or two about electrical. By No means though would I recommend that you work on your panel if you are not comfortable or to familiar with it. (sorry just had to throw that disclaimer :D)

GT that main is the main for your house/living area ?

would like to see what size fuses are in those pull out disconnects.

Which are the wires coming in from the power company? Looks like the ones on top. Finding out the size of the fuses should tell us how much power we can pull.

(4) 1000w lights being ran on 220v will be roughly 20 amps on each leg of power. Not sure if your panel will be able to handle it. Need to see what those fuses are rated at and what is being currently pulled through them right now. Before we start adding new circuits.

It's not that I'm not uncomfortable with doing it I just don't know where to tap in.

That's the fuse that are in the pull outs, the top is where it comes into from the power co.

IMAG0406.jpg

That's the whole wall, the one to the left of the main is the water heater the right pull out says range and the left one says main.

So what would I have to do and/or get to hook up the 4k light controller? How would you do it?

I just got another 1k ballast so I now have 3k a 600w and a 400w and I wanna run it all and get max light coverage.

The lvpk are blowing up big time they look like they need another week or 2 of veg.

IMAG0407.jpg

That's them as of today, nice and green.

So how long do you plan to veg stussy?

I can't say comfortably which terminals to connect to. A few things we need to know is the existing AMPS being pulled through the existing lines. It would be ideal to find out where the wires go on the bottom of the fused disconnect.

If we connect the power for the 4k light controller, and it just so happens to be on the same circuit as say your electric stove. If their is not enough amps on this circuit and the lights are on and you need to cook something. Along with any of those other wires that are pulling amps. Those fuses might blow.

As you can see we need to know a bit more of the equation before we go looking for answers.

Also those wires on the top left fused disconnect that are not coming from the main. Look like they are on the wrong side of the terminal. They are not going through the fuse it self. For example that wire from the power company is rated for 60 amps. Through the fuse we are pulling 50 amps of power. From the wires being tapped out of the top of the disconnect we are pulling another 20. This power is not being pulled through the fuse. So through the line we would be pulling 70 amps. More than what the wire is rated for. The fuse wont blow because all it knows is what's being pulled through it (50 amps). This could cause a lot of problems.

Electrical is the one things that you can not guess on or have any room for error. A mistake can be the last one you make. I would say wait for your buddy to get back from that 4 month job. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks for your knowledge man,I really appreciate it.

So should I just update the whole damn thing and have my buddy rewire it all?

I really wanna hook up that 4k controller, because I'm planning on getting a UC system and want to 2k over it.

and as far as my rdwc veg time I don't know when to call it,I had so much trouble in the begining they lagged for a couple weeks then the roots all off and new ones started growing,I'd say they have been veging since the 12th.
so that would make it 4th week of veg, there's still like 60-70% of the bucket free for roots to grow in so I'm gonna veg for another week or 2 and I've been bumping the nutes up and want to try and get them feeding on 600-700 ppm by flip.

but I need to figure this lighting/power sitiation out come flip time.

So what size load center do you recommend? My pad is a smaller place with electric stove/water heater.

I would use the lights to heat the house NO elec for heater when you can just ad another light. Do you have a gas line behind the elec stove? Dump that and go gas. Then have your buddy put in a bad ass new main board with lots of area to run your lighting system. Over building on electrical is the way to go.

My house heat is gas the water heater is electric,I'm renting so I don't wanna go crazy replacing stuff the owners won't reimburse me for. I just wanna make it so i can run 4k harvest fatty and move.

I wwas looking at load centers on lowes should I get a 100A or 200A? And how many spots do I need to have? Does it have to equal the number of outlets in the house?

hey green thumbs,

You also have to ensure that you are not drawing too much power, or maxing out, and that you are balanced.

if you dont know the answers to the questions you are asking about the electrical, you are MUCH BETTER OFF WAITING FOR SOMEONE WHO IS QUALIFIED TO DO SO. With such high amperage numbers, you can be fried. If you do attempt it for gods sake have a friend with a 2X4 waiting to smack you as hard as he can to hit your fried body away from your panel.

nice show. with power i let the pros do it!!

if you had a multimeter you could confirm what I am telling you, again I strongly recommended having a pro help you.

it looks like your ground is on the right, and your main feeds both "fuse holders" at the top. your panel is ancient, and lines could be brittle etc, even more reason to leave it to a pro.

FYI. all CAP stuff is super dangerous (their burners as well) and has no electrical code stamp of approval for any country ie. CSA..... I wouldnt use anything like that, especially since it has not even been certified to be run from either the US or Canadian government for our standards. You should go with a proper board with breakers for ballasts and high heat shut offs. My 2 cents.

You are banging it out, keep it up and stay safe!

We all want you around here for future projects. There are certain things to leave to the pros and electrical is one of them.

Ok ok ok,I'll wait til my buddy gets back to asess the damage.

I guess if anything I'll only be running the 2.6k I'm running now. And have to wait til we move or something.

And for the record I can do anything I could I put my mind to.

Ha! yeah.

Well my buddy is gonna come check it out in a couple days,I showed him pox and he recommended getting a new panel for 100 bux and updating the whole thing. So that the rout were going to keep me safe and un toasted.

Got the mlc-4x today Hung it and connected the power cable (wired to the 30A breaker that's dead with no power in) then Hung the breaker box and that's it. waiting til an expert coms over.

Oh and thanks for all the concern guys. Make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Lol

Well here's a little update pic.

The ppm is down to 407 so I'm gonna bump it up to 550-600ppm tomorrow P.H. is at 5.7 they look as happy as can be.

Glad to hear you are hold out on the power situation.

They are looking good. The PK are only at 407 PPM ? But then again they like the low PPM.

I bet they could handle 700 ppm by the weekend
Stu they will eat high ass ppms thru veg ya just have to back off in bloom. Ive had it as high as 1300 ppm in my UC and they loved it.

Right on well I'll shoot for 650-700 today. I'll keep it there for another week or so then flip I guess,so how much stretch should I be in for bg?

They are all around 12" now I expect them to be around 17"-20" come flip. I want some trees.

the lvpk in coco is looking soooo damn dank,I can't wait to finally try some, have you had the lvpk grown in coco? is it different tasting than in hydro?
