My baby is not looking good at all. Seed took a little time to pop, about 6 days, had to help it by pinching in the end. Planted in 1 liter pot of soil w perlite, soil package says soil PH is 6.

Measured my tap water PH to be 8, so I have been using vinegar to adjust it down to about 6,5 up until today. Just watered it with tap water that I didn't adjust, and measured the runoff to be 6,5.

It's in a microgrow in a PC cabinet with a 125w CFL light. The other plant I have in the same cabinet, using the same soil, and watered with the same water is doing much better. It's about 3 or 4 days older.

My plant is growing very slowly, leafes hanging down and looking curly, dark with lighter spots. This is my first grow and I really don't know what to do. It's been watered about every 3 or 4 days, soil feels light and not too moist, so I don't think overwatering is an issue. PH problem maybe? Have not started giving any nutrients yet.

Any help would be much appreciated!

It looks like a mutant to me, some seedlings just come up that way, all mutantified. Sometimes if you give them enough time they will turn around and become normal plants.

Besides your soil looking dry as a bone u seem to have no issues. As stated above that is a mutant. Some plants grow out of it and some don't. Either way don't discredit it because its a mutant. Some mutants are FIRE! Good luck

Thank you for your reply :) Mutants? Never even heard of that lol. The plant looked like that since the first day, I could see something was wrong with it. So nothing to do but wait is your opinion? What do you think I should do about the water/PH situation, should I adjust the water to 6,5/something else when watering? Or should I just give it tapwater PH 8 since the runoff then was 6,5?

hempluvr: It's just the top looking like that, some of the pics are from yesterday when I hadn't watered it for a couple of days. Thought maybe it was overwatered. I have given it water today, and the soil is moist just under the surface.

If your using vinegar as ph down, make sure to water right after you adjust the ph. Vinegar adjusted water will rise in ph with time. Adjusting to 6.5 is the thing to do though. I wouldn't water with the tap water at 8, it will swing the ph in the soil up with time.

Thanks sam, I will be sure to do that. Just thought since the runoff was 6,5 that it was OK, since the soil was kind of acidic with PH 6. I thought I had done my bit of research before starting this grow, but I hadn't even heard of mutant-plants lol. Hope she turns out allright.

Do you think my other plant looks healthy?

One of the leaf tips is slightly yellow. It might be Ca deficiency, but its very early to tell for sure.

Do you know the ppm of your tap water?
Did you add lime to your soil mix?

No sorry, I have no idea what ppm my water is. I have not added any lime, is that something I should do? I'm thinking about buying a soil mix with slightly higher PH to use at the next transplant. Sorry my pics aren't of the best quality, it was the best I could do with my cell.

Nice photo, but uhh... ... I don't see Ca on there... ...good info on there though.

Thanks for posting it.

LOL Yeah I should have explained that the OP said he was a first timer and I figured he might appreciate the chart.
There are a couple other charts that go with this on but they are on a Russian site and I can't read it well enough to navigate the site to find em.
I might put out an S.O.S. in the Russian forum for a translator cause I for one would dearly love to have all of them.

Great chart, thanks a bunch :) saved it for future use, I'm sure I will be needing it. When is a good time to start with nutrients? I have a bottle of biobizz biogrow, will that help with Ca-deficiency?
