This is what I got going in a spare utility closet. It's some hydroponic Satori, currently in week 3 of flowering. There are three clones, they were vegged for a month. Lit up by a 250 watt hps. I like this strain a lot!

You can see that there is a little nute burn on the tips of the leaves. This is my first time doing her in hydro, and it turns out she is a light feeder. I've already lowered the EC, and it seems to be doing fine. More pictures later...

As you can see, the nute burn has been stopped since backing the EC down a bit. The new growth is coming out looking fine now. But of course, there are still curled up, burnt leaf tips here and there. It could have been worse.

Things are crystalling up nicely! :D

Looking good! Could you post which system you are using and the nutrient type, ph and concentration/ec. It looks to me as tho you are still overfeeding em slightly. Also fans work better blowing through the canopy or under the canopy rather than over it. Best of luck and keep up the good growing.
Cheers,
HM

Thanks! The fan that you see there is simply for cooling the air immediately below the cool tube. There is actually plenty of air movement from the exhaust fan alone. Here are my specs:

Garden is about 3 square feet.
Lit by 250 watt HPS.
Exhausted by 265 cfm dayton blower, through carbon filter.
Hydroponic system is homemade DWC tub.
Nutes are GH flora series, only using micro and bloom (lucas method).
pH is kept between 5.8 and 6.3
EC is pretty low, after filling the res last time, it was about 1.4
The plants are 3 clones of Satori.

I will be keeping my eyes on them over the next few days, to make sure they still aren't burning. But the new growth seems to be corrected. I definitely appreciate your input, and I will be watching them like a hawk.

Comments are appreciated! :)

From the pics, your light looks like it's penetrating almost the entire canopy.. good training there.

Was was your yield in the past? How's the Satori high?

^ Thank you. This is my first time trying the defoliation method. I didn't defoliate at all during vegetative growth, but in flowering I've been plucking off leaves as needed, every few weeks. I've done 2 defoliations so far.

This is my first time doing satori in hydro, as in the past I've always grown it in soil. But just as importantly, I've only ever grown this cut in SOG style. This is the first time I've LST'd her. She responded very well, and I now have like 50 flowering tops. So the yield should be MUCH better than in the past, for the fact that it has been LST'd and it's in hydro this time.

I have been harvesting only about 2 to 3 ounces in this same garden space, in soil. Now this time around, with only 3 plants, I expect I'll get anywhere from 4 to 6 ounces. This is a heavy-yielding cut of Satori. It's a long-flowering sativa cut. It takes about 11 to 12 weeks flowering. The high is phenomenal! Almost no body high, and you feel it all in the head. The only down side to it is it gets my mind racing sometimes if I smoke it too close to bedtime. :D

Thanks for your comments.

So it is now officially halfway through flowering, since we are in the 6th week now. I'm actually kind of halfway worried about my yield, based on what I'm seeing. First of all, I learned that Satori doesn't stretch during flowering if you veg her for a month or more. This was much to my dismay. But whatever, because I have a lot of flowering tops, right?

But they don't seem to be growing very much. I can tell that they are putting on weight, because the branches are sagging... but when I compare last week's pics with todays, it just doesn't seem like the flowers are filling out. I fixed the slight nute burn that I was dealing with, and the plants look relatively healthy, imo. I just noticed what looks like a bit of Mg def, which is odd since I'm using lucas formula and my tap water is hard... But other than these minor things, the buds look beautiful, they smell beautiful, they are crystalling up nicely... they are just small!

So I'm wondering a bunch of things. I'm wondering if Satori just grows this way when you LST her instead of letting her grow into a giant cola bud? I'm wondering if they were shocked/stunted from the last defoliation session (around week 3) and just haven't bounced back yet? I'm wondering if I'm just overthinking things when it's really all fine? All I know is that by this time in flowering when I grew this clone in soil, the plants appeared to be meatier... but then again, those were sog style, with no defol, and these are LST with heavy defol.

At any rate, It's only halfway done, so there's still time. It ain't over yet. Here they are now:

I sure hope I can squeeze at least a QP out of this grow...

Middle of the 7th week now. Everything is progressing nicely. The outer branches are sagging heavily now. I'm not going to bother propping them up though. I've been slowly decreasing the EC level, since as you can see, there is some nute burn on the tips. But don't worry, the damage is contained to the tips of the leaves. I'll be trimming those off in the manicure anyway!

Here are the pics.

Looking good Hush!

They're going to turn out nice. Now you have an idea of what the ideal nutrient level is for your strain and set-up. Lots of buds!

Good job!

^ I'm not sure... there are pics there, I promise. :)

So I just gave the plants their final defoliation. It wasn't nearly as much this time as it was the previous 2 times. There is definitely a lot more light coming through to the bottom buds now. Other than that, there is nothing new to report. Here are a few pics:

^ Thank you, that's quite a compliment! :)

So, someone gave me an Arctic Sun reflector today! I've long wanted to put an actual air-cooled reflector in there instead of my homemade cool tube, but I could never afford one. The only thing is, the glass lens was broken on it. So I have to replace it, along with the now-peeled-away gasket seam. But that should be easy and cheap enough for my budget, so I'm very excited. This should help to light the entire garden evenly, which I know is not happening now.

Stay tuned for the change...

Okay, update time. I still haven't gotten the new reflector in there yet. I'm just going to wait until after harvest. We are now on day 66 of flowering, and things are finishing up. I expect to harvest on day 70 or so, just like the seed packet said. So indeed, hydroponics has made this plant finish faster than it did in soil. This clone always took 11 weeks or so in soil.

Anyhoo, on with the show:

It smells so wonderful and complex! Even moreso than it did in soil! I'm so confused about that? But I just think I'm getting better at growing her every time. :D

I've been picking lower buds and smoking them as needed, since I'm out of weed at the moment, but there will be plenty left for harvest...

I can help yup get a qp from satori and a horizontal 250

*give good calmag+ at 5ml/gal once a week till done stretch (cut it if you get DOWN CLAWS which is over N.)
*at week7 you COULD go 6/16 M:B just keep an eye on lower leaves for Ndef
*take 4"clones and let them veg in the cloner for a bit. Allow them to grow 1 node in cloner and go right into flower.
*LollyPop them good.
*Dont defol them right away, instead cut all leaves in HALF that are touching.
*Put no plants DIRECTLY under the light. Make a oval with the sog plants and leave the center spot empty. Let all the leaves congregate here, cutting the biggest plants' leaves in half.

This should get you the best results with satori ime.

Peace and PM me if you need anything.

^ I must spread reputation around before giving it to you again, but THANK YOU SO MUCH!! That is a helpful post man. Thank you thank you. I am especially intrigued by the "leave the middle empty" technique. That's genius! Thanks again. :)
