Better than a book, you can ask questions and get answers.

True enough but a good cannabook is never out of place beside the toilet.
You'd be surprised what you can learn while having a crap....

I hear what you are saying, that's why there are printers.

I actually print a LOT of this stuff out and highlighter it, make notes, and three hole punch it!

Have you been in my bathroom? :biglaugh:

That's the only place in the house where I get peace & quite & catch up on some knowledge. Cannabis Grow Bible, by Greg Green

Hubbleman I have that book (the first one u suggested), its full of alot of bs, like u'll get more males if the lights are on 24/0... or it takes seeds 4-7 days to show taproots, 10 - 21 days before it pops out of the soil, and so on. I wouldnt suggest anything written by george cervantes, im pretty sure weed isnt the only thing hes smoking. (is it a general consensus here on ic that cervantes is bogus?... anyone like him?)

No marijuana book could ever contain as much knowledge as is available here on ic. Also if u dont understand somethin u can post up a question and get personal response, cant beat that! atho i hear ya.. its nice to have some reading material when sitting on the throne, or layin in bed.

I have the Cannabis Grow Bible and it's a good basic book that gives a basic overview of the entire process but doesn't go into that much detail on any category.

It's 253 pages so it's kinda hard to cover everything. It has around 4 full color pages in the center, the rest of the images are black and white.

I second the cannabible series that's a good read too. Don't forget the Big Book of Buds if you want an eye candy coffee table kinda book. And there's always the Ed Rosenthal books.

lame to knock on books imho

i heart paper, it never crashes for one, well unless there's fire or water i suppose ;)

along with this site, i have found help in these books:

Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible
http://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X/

Cultivating Exceptional Cannabis: An Expert Breeder Shares His Secrets
http://www.amazon.com/Cultivating-Exceptional-Cannabis-Breeder-Marijuana/dp/0932551599/

The Cannabible Collection: The Cannabible 1/the Cananbible 2/the Cannabible 3
http://www.amazon.com/Cannabible-Collection-Cananbible/dp/1580088376/

I like all the books in the above guys sig.:)

This is a great resource for specific questions, but I disagree with whoever said you can learn it all here. Maybe you're just more intelligent than I am and can parse together information better. But I tried to learn growing from scratch via following grow logs and asking questions. Didn't work for me. Granted, I had never grown a plant before in my life, but I was confused on a bunch of basic stuff, and I could tell people were getting annoyed by my juvenille questioning. It also hurt because I went big on my first ever grow (3k), and I could tell a lot of veteran growers resented that.

Best of luck either way man, but I think a book is far superior for beginners. When you have specific questions, then this place can't be beat.:)

I had the cannabis grow bible. It was OK but taught me nothing new.. I had grown basil indoors before so it might be helpful to you if you're completely new, but to be honest there's nothing in the books that you can't find online, and in my experience the online data was way more useful because I was able to get hundreds of people's opinion on subjects and it was based on people's experience.

If you want, we can help you if you ask specific questions.. are you indoors/outdoors, soil or hydro? how big of a space? budget? etc

George Van Patten's books are VERY good though!

and a lot of the books on purple_man's list are excellent. I haven't read this but Soma has a book also:

I also agree nothing compares to what you can find on here, but sometimes it's nice to just sit back and relax and take in a book for what its worth.

Thanks for the other recommendations for other books to check out definitely will be picking something up this weekend.

Does anyone have anything to say about 'The Cannabis Breeder's Bible" by Greg Green?

Yeah, it's a good book. It teaches the basics of breeding and cannabis genetics in a very easy to understand way.

Clarke's MJ Botany for example is a much heavier, perhaps even too "scientific" for many.

But I recommend them both! Read Green's book first then Clarke's.

And another weed related book I can recommend is Mr Nice from Howard Marks. Tells about his adventures as a smuggler.
