you need a ballast.
HID bulbs take over 200 volts at the socket to fire.

hid's come in 2 different socket types.
medium base (your lil bulb)
mogul base (bigger 400w+)

you can screw that bulb into a normal light fixture at your house.
just dont expect it to light.

You'll need the Ballast:

go for the straight/long lamp too.

Oh this one is interesting, comes with internal ignitor? does this mean no ballast is required??
i know CFL envirolights come with internal ignitors & just slot into the E40 fitting-mains!
not sure on the 1900 kelvin though, she a bit out of the spectrum! doesnt look too bad though.

Youve got me looking now, Cheers for the link!!!

when i first started growing 1990'ish, i was using carpark/security lighting & got results, had to remove the Covering/Glass, its way thick! worked well though tbh. HPS-SON lamps they were. Just they were real heavy to hang(built in ballast like a mini poot, but crapper)

I don't think the internal ignitor will supply the necessary ~200 volts.

I don't know what makes a 150w HPS bulb cost $50+. I get the security bulbs from e-conolight.com for ~$6.00 each. Besides, you're gonna replace it after 3 or 4 grows with ~75% of the bulb's life remaining.

If you want an inexpensive 150w HPS ballast, e-conolight.com has a security flood for less than $60 shipped, bulb included.

It's easy to convert the security flood to a remote ballast setup by extending the two lamp wires as long as needed.
Here's a cool remote-ballast how-to...
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=36344&highlight=remote

The 150w HPS security flood from e-conolight.com doesn't have a capacitor. As long as it's unplugged, it's safe to service internal parts. If your ballast has a cap and you wish to modify or convert, discharge the cap for personal safety. They'll shock the sheet out of ya.

Yeah i checked that Ballast & lamp out man, you still need the Ballast but just remove the intenal Ignitor as the Lamp comes with one. & you can use a huge length of Cable to make the ballast remote, the product specs are in the second link.

Great Advice & Links from Mr Disco B there too.(might be the internal ignitor DB)

Im looking at making a Mini/Micro Vert very soon, I have come up with some wicked ideas/designs. Ill give ya a shout when i knock one up. ;) Thanks Bro! ;)
CGE Micro Vert with Co2 Injection-(theres more but thats all im saying for now)
