"PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. — To the relief of the winter-weary, the world's most famous groundhog is predicting an early spring.
Punxsutawney Phil emerged around dawn on Groundhog Day on Wednesday to make his 125th annual weather forecast in front of thousands who braved muddy, icy conditions to hear his handlers reveal that Pennsylvania's prophetic rodent had not seen his shadow.

Phil's handlers, the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club's Inner Circle, concoct the forecasts. Several thousand revelers gathered in the pre-dawn hours on a small hill called Gobbler's Knob to hear the prediction.
Before Wednesday, Phil had seen his shadow 98 times and hadn't seen it 15 times since 1887. There are no records for the remaining years, though the group has never failed to issue a forecast.
The tradition traces its origins to a German superstition."

There is only one true weather predicting groundhog, and that's Phil.

I've never seen only 6wks after Phil says thats all. I only see Billy right when he says 12 more to go.
Noiw Phil maybe the original but that doesnt make him right.

I hope you guys get your 6wks only, wish we would get ONLY that. So if you get snow in April how can you only have 6wks of winter left? sounds like he's wrong for you too. Better listen to Billy

Ok I'm going to put the gloves on, wheres the fight about which groundhog is best at his job, be right back (goes digs out old boxing gloves and slips them on, to realize you cannot type with boxing gloves.

get the snowmobile out, or a bigger snowblower

we have almost no snow left now, we've had 2 warm spells (+8c today) and have less then 1/2 what we had before, some spots a 1/10th maybe.
Balzac Billy saw his shadow here so we are in for 12 more weeks. snow gone for begin of May isnt unusual, nicer when its gone in begin of April tho and stays away. to get only 6wks from now would be a never happened before thing. 8-10 wks is normal.
Outdoor weed needs to go in end of May be done by mid sept here and then that may be too long of a period as snow in May happens easily, and frost end of Aug isn't unusual.
