Hi Hemp,

In my veg cab got a 3 plants, 2 about a foot been topped several heads and another from seed about 6 inches tall. (also got a few cuttings which have rooted fine)

The 2 bigger plants have started to flower look at least a week or two into flower?

The light (125watt cfl) has been on 18/6. Its not a great cab use it really to keep mothers alive only this time of year but don`t know why they are flowering. I would have thought stress would have turned them rather than flower them?

Not too worried, put the light on 24/7 so they should go back to veg. If they don`t I will stick them in the flower cab, got more cuttings.....

Don`t really want this happening again so any ideas m8.

Also what should I do with the hairs n bud formation cut them off or leave them.

Cheers

Well without pictures it's hard to tell for sure what's happening. Some folks mistake pre-flowers (which can happen during veg) for actual flowering. If it's pre-flowers they usually don't form clusters of flowers but rather pop up in pairs at the branch nodes. If it has flowered under 18/6 and there was no period where it got 12 hours or more of darkness then it has to be an autoflowering strain and there is nothing you can do. Even switching to 24/0 won't stop them.

where defo in flower, have stuck them on 24/7 checked a few days ago think they are back in veg, will check again soon and will let u know

cheers bro

What other deficiencies would show rust spots/orangy redspots? They form on the older leaves, and fast. Usually drying out the edges and tip. Starts off darker. I actually thought I'd been getting rust for my last few grows but my humidity is good and ventilation is strong. Im growing in Sunshine #4 which is PH balanced, I add a very small amount of worm castings and water with 6.3-6.8PH. Im using botanicare organic nutrients and feeding at the charted measure. Plants are about 3 weeks old. Sorry,no pics. The strain is Lemon skunk. Could this be calcium??? Is my water crappy? Man Im bummed.

It's hard to say with no pictures. I'd look thru this thread...

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=11688

and see if any of the pics match what you're seeing. If so that's probably what it is. Calcium and magnesium deficiencies are very common because plants need a fair amount of both of them and yet most things we use tend to overlook those two micronutrients and either don't provide them or don't provide enough of them. Calcium deficiencies can look like rust spots.

HK- Thanks for the reply. Here are some pictures of my problem. The last pic is a different plant and strain, its not showing the spots but is purpling up ALOT on the stems and new leafs. Any help?? Ive never used Cal/Mag and Im hoping thats all it is. Ive gotten this almost every grow and its so disheartning. This grow all round has been the complete sh*ts.

I don't have a question, I have a statement I would like everybody to pay attention to: NEVER, EVER trust the fact that your ph meter was set at the factory NO MATTER WHAT THE PACKAGE SAYS ALWAYS test it yourself with the appropriate buffer solution!!!

shit shit shit!!!!!!!!

I bought a milwaukee ph meter, said it was set at the factory, tested tap water at 8.4, been adjusting to 6.2 to 6.5, today I finally checked and guess what? The frigging thing was supposed to be reading 7 to 7.1, maybe (the buffer was 7.01) and it said 8.6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for the last month I've been killing my plants!!!

Well the purpling looks to me like what alot of indoor grows get in the winter because it gets a bit chilly (upper 50's F) in many grow rooms during winter grows. Although it is possible it's a genetic trait for the strain or strains showing it.

The other picture doesn't look quite the same as what I saw for calcium deficiency but I don't have much experience with calcium deficiency as it's in the dolomite lime I put in my soil as well as in the molasses I mix into the water.

Another thing I noticed in looking thru that thread I linked to in the last reply, is that soilless mixes generally like a lower ph. As I recall Sunshine #4 is considered a soilless mix and if you've been keeping the ph up around 6.5 to 6.8 that might be high enough to cause some things to be locked out. You may want to consider trying a feeding with the ph at 6.0 and see how it responds.

Good point. Another good point about those meters is that even if they're accurate at first they break down fairly quickly and yet it'll still seems to work and you may find yourself assuming it's right because it used to be.

Hey hemp ol buddy ol kat. Im flowering with some run of the mill shitty bulb called denkyu 250 watt hps.

I really want an advanced spectrum bulb and i thought the hortilux EYE advanced blue was 25 bones, ready to buy it at the hydro store, i then realized it was 68 plus tax! i dont wana fork over any more cash unless i have to. In this case i obviously dont have to but would it be worth the money in cannabis to get the best bulb on the market. Will the yield be increased by the hortilux eye, do you think it has more lumens than what im using? Or all all bulbs the same shit?

50 watts per sq foot is good rule of thumb

ex: 4 by 4 area 16 sq ft...1000 watt bulb. 1000/16= 62.5 you are good to go

Molasses question...can i use molasses if im using nutes i plan on using 1 tsp/gal of water every other feeding week 3-4

FFOF soil
GH flora series
Kool Bloom

You can use it every feeding, just gives the plant extra energy (sugars) to do its work, plus a few added micronutes like cal, mag, etc. I use it all the way to flush time

Exactly the problem I stumbled into. Good to put that out there, I learned that one the hard way too.

No all bulbs are definately not the same. Some do offer more lumens then others and there are definate quality differences between brands. Now as far as improved yield and the worth of a bulb. Only you can make that call. A better bulb should provide a better yield but there are so many other factors involved that could influence yield (temp, humidity, ventilation, diet, ph levels, etc). I couldn't even begin to guess at what increase a new bulb might bring you.

I give my plants molasses almost every watering at a rate of 1/2 tablespoon per gallon and it hasn't caused me problems.
