Hay lads was just looking up spec sheets on PL-L dimensions for my cab build when i stumbled across some recently released bulbs from osram.

Theyre called Osram Dulux L HE 16/24/26/28W and theyre meant to replace 36W and 40W PL-Ls about the same size as the 40 or 55W ones 21 or 22".

The previous PL-Ls were about high 80s lumens per watt, and these are around 96-100, which is pretty much HID territory.

I think my plans might have to change and replace all planned 55Wers with 2 x 26Wers... (same length)

A 55W is rated at 4800 design lumens, and these 2 x 26W would give 5200 design lumens from 52W...
(A workhorse 8 could safely drive 8 of these at only 208W and output 20,800 lumens)

Here are the best spec sheets I could find:

sweet, 100 lumens per watt is great, how much heat does 208 watts of florecent lighting generate, is it hard to manage the temps with that?

Maybe these will get brighter than HID soon...

My cab is nearly finished and I have two workhorses and 8 of the 55w bulbs already. I might have to get these and change my lights setup. Have you found a source for buying them yet?

Atlanta Lightbulbs has 40w/3500k for $7.37 a bulb. Not bad. I wonder what the heat of two of them is compared to one of the 55w bulbs, more or less heat of any appreciable amount

Not sure where to get them,
Osram calls their PL-Ls "DULUX L" so this is just an updated version "Dulux L HE" with HID level efficacy (lumens/watt).
Its in the same format and sizes but only in ratings of 16W / 24W / 26W / 28W.

The 28W is the same length as a normal 40W/80W at over 22 inches, and the 26W is the same length as a normal 55W at just over 21".

I think if you have the space then having twice the bulbs means twice the area of light source, not to mention 15% more light output.
