ok so i get purple leaves on a few of my plants and im getting good at dropping the temps at the right time to achieve it.

the problem i have is when my purple leaves/bud is dry/cured they just look like tey are a real dark green unless you really take the time to look closely. is there a way to maybe lighten up the purple i know its not my strainas it happens on all my purple plants and they are flushed proper, peace

lights out temps around 55-60 seem to be doing the trick here.

Edit: I posted off of just reading the title, and not the OP
I see you have the low temps going already.
I don't know why they're not staying purple looking for you after drying/curing, mine seem to.

you should be trimming off as much leaf as possible, it doesn't matter what color they are.

I believe it based on most genetics of the plant, you can purp up a lot of strains by dropping the temp below 60 or so ... but once they're dried they wont have the real purple colors of the one that have it in its genes .... i hope that help ??

also jay is right, smoking leafs arent fun, trim em off as much as ya can

cheers,
red.

Kidding...
As stated above,it's all in the genetic code. Some are purple most of the way through flower without any drastic temp change, some need cooler temps, some turn purple only in the last stages of flower with or without cold....it's all in the genes. Sometimes the color is on the leaves, sometimes it's on the calyx's,sometimes both.

Some friends were asked by their buyer to use that purple-maxx crap. When we trimmed it stained everything purple like the plant was full of food dye. It was crazy purple tho.

The Black
Pretty neat color, great taste and smell, but potency and growing characteristics could be better. It puts this color on a couple weeks into flower and cooler temps will darken it up..BUT it will do it anyway without cold temps.

I always thought that purp is due to genetics? Even the ones who only purple up in the cold?

Puts the color on the calyxes about mid-way through flower and cold helps a bit....keeps the color when dry.

its genetics as well as environment. my little trick to get most any plant to turn purple is to put it right in front of an oscilating fan (i had a mvtf one time that the side of the bud that was facing the fan was purple and the other side of the bud was green, like 2 face from batman!!!). if its 60 in the room and the fans blowing right at the plant youll get some amazing colors!! Mendo purps will turn purple by itself even in high temps, however if you get her cold n put a fan in front of her the purple and pink that comes out is mind bogglingly beautiful.

LVPk turns purple but just leaves really...... loses that color after trim. The ISO oil did turn out a deep red/purple color

The black is the only strain I had that turned purple almost immediately in flower. It had a great flavor but hermied at about 5 weeks the times that I ran her.
