Howdy folks! So this year I talked with a buddy who has some land in the sticks, and we were talking about his dismal 2010 outdoor run. I asked him what he needed to do it right, and we went from there.

I scoped out the site this last weekend and forgot my damn camera, grr! Its about 40 acres in the middle of nowhere, with a nice 2 acre field in the middle that we can use however we want. He already had 25 400 gallon holes dug out, but we're doubling that and using another 50 smaller holes up on a hillside. I'll call them the "field grow" and "hill grow" to delineate.

The field grow will be 50 plants, I'm setting him up with a 6-light veg room in his detached garage so we can veg onsite. The power line needs to be fixed though but I can do that myself.

I'm ordering about 70 yards of custom-mixed soil to be delivered, and since he has water out there I'll plumb in Blumats, probably 6 Maxis per plant on a field loop. We'll use an inline fertilizer injector to feed them all, probably using AN Sensi 2 part. We've got good southern exposure, so the field should do quite well.

Strains we'll run include:
(his)
Headband
Purple Gorilla
Sweet Tooth

(mine)
Pineapple Thai
Pure Thai
Chocolope
Grape Stomper
SSH
G13XHaze
Triple Platinum OG Kush
Azura
Blackberry Cheese
Jackpot
Blue Dragon
Wow
Maui Wowie
Purple AK47

I think we'll do 5-6 of each strain so we get a good representation of them all. The plants in the field should be mostly 5#ers, the hill grow is more shaded so we're shooting for 50 1#ers up there. All in all the target is 300# this year, I can't wait!

I'll get pics the next time I go up, it will probably just be holes by then, but I'm starting with the indoor setup for now since that's gotta go in first.

Stay tuned for more!

He did 50 plants in the open last year (half in pots) and though he was flown once, they didn't stop and never came back. Why would they stop this year if they see the same number of plants?

Oh nevemrind, you're probably right, nobody does outdoor anymore. I should just give up now, right? Thanks for your helpful advice!

LOL, thanks Mr Wags and StealthDragon! It will be an adventure for sure. Really kicking myself that I forgot my camera, there's not really much to see yet but it's a pretty spot, even in January. All there is now are some holes in the ground, but my buddy is a good hard worker and not afraid to use a shovel. :) Thank god, I'm too old for that shit already, haha

This is exactly why I want to live in the sticks.

Good luck Lazy!

Thanks guys! Glad to have you all along for the ride!

I guess I should mention that this will be a legit medical grow too, in case anyone has any quandaries. I think the growing of it shall be fairly easy, the trimming will suck, but how to dry it? Dozens of hanging drying racks? Hmm, I bet I can use the garage we're setting up for the indoor veg room, it's gonna be huge and won't have plants in it at that time. Just gotta get a few hundred drying racks I suppose! (ulp.)

this will be great.......buying hundreds of drying racks is easily replaced by making something at such a lower price. plenty of time to consider that though :)

Thanks guys! Much appreciated, I actually just transplanted a lot of the clones for this outdoor crop into 4" pots last night. They're in coco/perlite for now and I will veg them for the next month until I have another veg room to switch on at my buddies place.

Rippers, good question, I think the bears would eat them (no kidding, bear shit all around the property), but it's pretty remote and there will be a 10' deer fence around the patch. Someone is always home too, and there are dogs on the property so nobody should be sneaking in quietly.

Thanks TJO! I am hopeful that my yield targets can be achieved by putting out our ~100 plants when they are 4-5 feet tall in late April, then letting them go nuts in the sun. I have read countless outdoor journals where guys put out seedlings, or even seeds in July etc and get a couple oz per plant. I'm sure that had everything to do with the smaller yields, no?

Sounds great Lazy. Best of Luck.

I have a G13X Haze that I run. If you have any indoor pics of yours you could share, I'd love to see them.

Blumats in the outdoors sounds really nice.
