Boy, I know the feeling. I will NEVER live in a common walled dwelling again. Never. Is there a huge fee for breaking the lease? It might be more bearable than 10 more months of hell.

I'm going to do what Drew said. I just don't know if I should wait a few days and let it marinate before I go talk to her or just do this now.

I have no smokeables in my apartment so she can't say shit now.

Hopefully we get outta the lease legally cause that is the best possible resolution.

Regardless tho, that will take a month or two so thats why I'm gonna go try and find a resolution possibly.

HUGE FEE for breaking the lease but yea thats basically what were looking at.

Only problem is that I don't want it to effect my credit history because i have flawless credit at the moment.

@Truth

You judge too quickly.

I :
Have a grow system, its just not in use because its too risky here

Don't slander people and waste my time for no reason instead of giving insightful advice.

Am in deep consideration of a card but haven't got one because I am about to be on the job market.

Grab some knowledge yourself Truth and understand that not everyone is gonna feel or think the same way you do.

So I'm guessing you're 21.

Job markets not looking too good right now.

Credit doesn't mean what it used to.

You STILL don't grow.

And none of this has anything to do with your COWARDLY threats to call the cops.

I'm not a cop hater, and I'm not a hater of people who call the cops.

I *hate* people who _threaten_ to call the cops.

Learn something here.

Next time a girl from upstairs comes down and gets in your face... smile, thank her, close the door, and then call the cops.

Be a man of your word.

Then come on IC mag and discuss how you just ratted on your annoying neighbor and you're not trippin cuz you're not growing and dont have any nugs at your house.

Then I will have a smidgeon of respect for you.

PS: and get a new girlfriend!

Even then, I would have no respect for you.

You are apparently just as ignorant as her because you can't simply understand that my temper got the best of me. I never denied that bro. I realize it was a bad move and I was angry as hell. What you don't understand is that I'm not standing behind that action, I'm explaining my situation.

I am a man of my word and if the chick doesn't cooperate after I speak with her, I'll call just like I said I would. Until then, we move on. So why do you keep harping on that one fact? I never asked for your respect and after hearing your personal choice of words, I wouldn't want it.

I've never been in a situation like this and no, I'm 23. I just finished a two year long internship at a worldwide financial firm with a fresh offer once I graduate so the job markets are actually looking pretty fresh right now. On top of that, the ONLY reason I don't have a card yet is because I am waiting to take my final drug test for the firm so I wouldn't even have to explain it to them.

Hope your working at a nice job tho. ;-)

You should also learn to not HATE people for such stupid reasons.. life is too short.

Oh you're an international banker. I hate you for new reasons now.

Honestly, I don't get it... you smoke weed, but you don't want something that says you need to smoke it because you don't want to have any connections to MJ when they drug test you?

So what happens when they test you and you're positive? Where's your fall back there?

I'm sure that somewhere in your lease it states that you are guaranteed quiet, peaceful living conditions. If you calmly state to the leasing office that you have complained several times and nothing has been resolved. They have in fact, failed to perform as stated in the lease. Tell them that if you filed in small claims court, you would not only be let out of the lease but that you would also be awarded moving expenses due to non-performance. Tell them that you could care less about the moving expenses, you just want out of the lease. Make it easy for them to make you go away.

There is no test for that. There is one test for the entrance and then you are in scotch free. I am not a international banker, I have a communications degree and I'll most likely be doing IT work.

I smoke weed but in today's society, I am smart enough to know that a financial firm will look down upon it even though I have a card. So I'm waiting until after I'm in.

If they were too randomly test (which they don't 100% sure) then I would fall back on my card which I will have then.

This is great advice Rabbi... they have offered to move us to a new apt but we would have to pay for a moving truck AND resign a new full years lease. That is the main reason we have written a letter to the complex explaining everything and why we specifically just want out of our lease legally.

I couldn't agree more tho.

EDIT: ALSO, they said that it would take them a few months to find an apartment if we were to transfer.

I have a good feeling he has a lease that also states NO SMOKING.

Do you? You had better hope not.

If you do, the neighbor upstairs already made a complaint to the cops about your smoking...

...better hope she doesn't sue for moving costs.

Although that is a good point too, I don't think this chick is gonna take it any further as long as I don't either. She's not going anywhere but I won't burn here anymore. Thats the major downfall but I'm aware its pretty much my fault.

I put myself in a situation for sure, I'm just looking for the best exit strategy is all.

The cops won't get involved if I diffuse the situation by talking to her. At least that's my hope. I have a clean record as of right now.

If they ask you about the smell of smoke, tell them you smell it too....that always screws up their suspicions!

So you want a clean record for this job you have in the bag, more or less?

But you blow smoke so your neighbor smells it.

Then you get pissed off that she's keeping you up.

So the police are AT YOUR DOOR _warning_ you that YOU are at risk in this situation, not your neighbor.

Now you want to go tell your landlord why he should let you move without any penalties or inconvenience?

If your job is as secure as you say it is you had better pay the fee, remove yourself from the lease, find a new management company to rent from.

You're just asking for some problem to complicate this situation any further if you're not accepting complete responsibility and sucking up a loss for a loser move.

Stop pointing fingers at your landlord, stop pointing fingers at your neighbor, because you got three fingers pointing back at you.

I am not responsible for my neighbors keeping me up every night and that is why the apartment complex is liable. I was never prosecuted... she smelled it and it is on the report probably but if I take a break, I'm clear. I would say I smell it too if the complex asks. Good advice yet again Rabbi!

Girl calls police: I'm having problems with my neighbor. He's smoking marijuana and I can smell it often.

Police come to your door, has conversation, makes note "smelled marijuana in apartment"

You go to rental office to complain about wanting to move.

Rental office contacts girl about complaint.

Girl tells rental office: He's always smoking, the cops smelled it too.

Rental office tells you: SHOVE IT
