watering near streams

Hey guys been planning next outdoor for 2011 and have been hoping to do a no or minimal attendance grow. I was thinking apart from my main plots to do a few hundred minis late in the season july-mid july planting. And around these parts I have a spot with a lot of creeks and streams. My question was that if I plant 2-3 feet away from the creeks, would there be enough moisture to not have to water? Would be nice to hear from any of you that have grown this way before.
Thanks

yes you will be ok. dig down till you hit water ,you should have 18 inches of dirt than water it will work well you should not have to water them at all.

My biggest fear being so close would be that most likely any serious rainfall will swell that creek and flood out your girls.. It doesn't take much to get a creek to move a few feet each way with water.. I know around here the small rivers and streams swell much much more than that during wet weather.

Thanks. around here we don't have that many storms or flooding so, planting near would be optimal since itll pretty much be a plant and forget, and ill make up weight with numbers.

ok, something I've been thinking and wondering is if planted in early april it should go right into veg and finish around june? Or will it just try to re veg and fuck up?
Thanks agains, this is my first "large scale" grow if you will:watchplant:

Minis are a great idea check out Julian’s thread he knows his shit.

Planting near streams will require less watering but don’t forget to check native vegetation and soil. If it is all grasses and sand then you will still be watering. These type of areas are built up as the river/creek changes the direction of flow (More prevalent in small rivers and creeks) maybe a downed tree or something started it. It can happen in just a few years a dry creek bed forms where water once ran and a new piece of land is made but it is usally all sand underneath a small layer of soil.

Just dig into the soil a couple of feet if its rich black soil your probably golden. Also your minis wont require as much water because of their size that’s a plus ( you need to fert & water them once when you plant) and they are hidden much easier.
What I like to do is go in 3 weeks before I plan on putting in my minis. I clear a small area of all the native vegetation dig my holes and camo the holes with the native veg. When I come back in 3 weeks the new native veg hides my plants but doesn’t compete with them like when it was 5 ft high.

Julian's thread is from where I actually got the idea, never ran minis before. Got a head start on that already couple days ago, I cleared my areas a few days ago and I guess I've hit gold pretty much dark brown almost black soil a few feet away and about a foot deep. But on the other part of the question do you plant very early on the season (april) and harvewst around july or just plant mid to late july for your minis. Thanks its just that if it would be possible to plant early enough to be able to finish by june I'd be able to get at least 2 rounds of minis

Hey GN
First full disclosure I haven’t done a ton of minis 2 seasons exactly. They are not regular part of my grows but you have to have this tool in your bag its a must. Julian was my minis mentor he understands diversifying or multiple revenue streams. The same philosophy goes for growing. If you have multiple grow techniques your chances of successful harvest increase two fold.

I am from the Midwest and I have no indoor strictly an OD guerrilla. Minis are a late July thing for me. Put them in 2-3rd week of July and by August they are in flower but they are still growing. My 12-inch (3rd week of July) plants turned into 3ft high plants. Granted I am not saying they are 3 ft bushes but 2 oz in not a hard number with the right strain.

green, to harvest in july will have to be growing autos.

There is a technique for early minis that involves force flowering them before you put them out, but all accounts point to summer solstice as being the earliest you can put them out. Solstice if you don't know is the longest day of the year, everyday gets shorter after that. Basically you take clones, switch to 12/12 for two weeks, then put them out after solstice. I think it was silverback who had a great thread on this, I think it was called 50 in 50, or something along those lines, meaning 50 ounces in 50 days. Find the thread, it had great info in it, I haven't done it yet, but plan to this season. Lets say you have an 8 week strain. June 15 you start 12/12 indoors, plant outdoors july 1, harvest August 15.

Without using either autos or the force flowering indoors trick, mini's will finish at their normal time for your area. Meaning if you put out "mini's" in april, you won't have mini's come september or october when they are mature full size plants.

I bet. The first time I walked through I cringed as I knew I'd soon be crawling through it all, now that I've gone through I still do and I have the scars to prove it haha

Berry thorns are bad enough try wild rose they are crazy. I absolutly will not wander through a large patch of wild rose its like walking through a meat grinder. The grab a hold of you and wont let go. You reach with you hand to free yourself up and your stuck by two other branches and they draw blood everytime.

Yes thats what im fucking talking about. The first time I saw the place I have shorts and a shirt on, I walked not even 5 feet into it and every move i made made it worse haha. It took me like 5 minutes to back out trying to move each damn branch but it wasnt really working so I said fuck and jumped out... It hurt so because they didnt just scratch me they dug into my skin and ruined shorts. My legs and arms looked theyd been sandblasted. Thats when I said this spot is pretty much 100% sure

No pain no gain eh? I need to get looking for a mini plot as you describe, has to have a natural barrier around it tho as I am in densely populated area.
