Hi all,
Im new here and never posted but have been reading and putting together a grow closet. So far the closet is 49" high by 12 " wide and 15" deep. there are 3 chambers.

bottom is 15" high and one 100 watts cfl 4600k

top is 28 " high and 130 cfl 2600k

the remainding 6 " on top has lights fan etc.

no scrubber yet

there is plumbing on the right side is for ventalation and to concentrate all air to the top and out threw a srubber that i am building.
i originally had a 250 hps on top but could not get the temps down. I am running 6 computer fans in this set up.

the girl is and ISS that was germed for seeds and i have been trying to keep her small. She has been in stress due to me finishing the cab and she is in 1 week of 12/12 so far and showing progress.

her growth was stuntted in her first month due to lack of care.
(trying to bring her back) will post pic of her later.

feed cak is welcome, pos or neg

THIS IS A GREAT SITE!!

thanks

i like it! are those the 15 dollar home depot 68w cfl? if so i just bought 4 of them so ill be checking in to see how your grow goes... good luck man looks great!! if you keep having issues with heat try insulating your plumming

RJ, yes those are the home depot lights. they say 65 watt each and eq-300 (yeah right) but i did put two of those in the flower chamber because hid is too hot. They seem bright enough and put out 4500 lumens each so i am putting all that on a foot print of 24"x15" with only the one ISS.

the 2 clones are actually both ISS (no train wreck) they are under 24/7 and just went in last night. as of today , no significant wilting and the smaller of the two is staying up and stout.

(ps-ISS smells so good but really strong)

not much for an update but here are a few photos.

The one iss that looks like a bush is making a great comback in this cab in only a few days.

and the 2 clones look like they will like their new homes

I grow with CFLs and the only suggestion I might make would be to get your plants closer to the lights if possible. I run my lights just a few inches from the tops of the plants. And you can grow good bud under cfls I do it all the time. This is the current grow these are 40 days and day 5 of 12/12. They are a G13, LSD and the unknown strain in the back corner. The box is the system I designed and built a year ago this is the 5th run. The box is growing 24/7 year round.:bongsmi::smoweed:

Pearlemae, thanks for the suggestion. I do and want to move the lights down, since I designed them that way. Unfortunately I am having a slight heat issue with my air flow design and the temps raise to 90 near the bulbs. i have to get the time and relocate the fans and then the lights come down.

and your cab looks fabulous, can i bother you for a link to your scrubber and or cab? i need to rethink mine (scrubber) since i am taking the false back off to move wires and fans.

The cab design I came up with by reading several different threads and using what I liked from the different designs. I built it out of plywood and sized it to fit in to a closet. It 4x4x2 the flower side is 3x4x2 and the other side has the mothers and clones air is pulled from the bottom and come in through the floor in the clone box goes up and through the wall via a 2 inch PVC pipe down into the floor where it comes out of the 2 holes. that give the box a constant upward air flow to the scrubber. But I also have a 6 inch clip on fan just below the light or it will go to 90 plus.
The scrubber plans are in a do it yourself sticky here on the mag and it has a wealth of great info KUDOS to those who thought it all up. the thread for the scrubber is at the bottom I USED BULK CARBON FROM A PRIVATE FISH STORE. not petco or the other) the store I went to sells it bulk by the pound and the scrubber hold just over 4 lbs but it works great.

thanks again for the input.

I did read that thread already and several others. I was curious about yours and now I see that this one works I will be utilizing that model with a few modes to fit the back of my cab.

thanks again

Time for another short update since not much is happening

As you can see the "bush" is still filling out and many more bud spots are appearing. I started to tie some of them down to spread them out and get better light to them and the others. They still have a long time to go so I am anticipating the stretch.

The other ISS clone, I also pruned and tied down to get more branches and bud sights. Since this one was not grown by me, it is not the bush I want yet and since there is plenty of time, it will get there and I am very patient.

but so far, all looks well and I didnt post the pic of the other clone in veg, well, because it hasnt really changed and we all see plants in veg, but I will post some in a few days.

and..the bean I planted still a no show, but I am patient.

Thanks for looking

Good news, the ISS bean is showing its pretty head. it sprouted and I will give her a few days to remove the shell. (i dont want to chop its head off on accident)

Then we wait....

Great closet man. You could definitely run 250 HPS there. I see that you have the equiment to build something really good. I would place the outtake just under the HPS(to the right side, where you have the pipe system) and put 1 vent to the other side to blow hot air right into outtake.

Maybe I smoked one too many, but did you explain your ventilation? If so I missed it.

[edit: ok.. found it. You have six computer fans? how are they mounted? Are they each on an individual exhaust point? I keep my cab temps under 90 with only 3 fans and I have 504w of CFL in my cab. If you have any fans on intake... remove them. Make sure your intake is at least double what your exhaust is.

I'm betting your temps come down if you do this.]

OK, I have been out of town for work and when I returned there was some ups and downs.

As you can see the ISS (bush) was trimmed and is growing great. (so I think). It is a long flowerer so its got plenty of time. (and so do I)

The other ISS (clone) that was put into the flowewr chamber is growing slowly, it has been tied down and trimmed to encourage more branch growth.

The clone I left in the veg chamber doesnt look so hot and hopefully I can bring her back. I think the person watching them forgot to water the veg chamber because my ISS sprout was dead and dry.

So, I planted another ISS seed.

Anti- thanks for stopping by. there are no fans on the intakes and the intakes are 3x the size of the eaxausts. The issue I am having is my design fault and it will be fixed in the near future. I am running this without change so I can have a somewhat accurate idea of this 1st grow. When I do get motivated to redo the back of the cab where the vent and light traps are, I will put the CMH back in.

I also stopped at the local dispensary and bought some White Widow and just tried it now. Good mild taste and not a bad high. I tried it speciically because it (like ISS) really helps with arthritis, joint and back pain. I also got a few WW seeds, so when I germ those, you all will know.

Thanks for looking

Looks like it'll be a good show, pulling up a chair!

Curious as well how those 68s do.

IDK if it's an option for you but if you are still having temp issues perhaps getting an oversized exhaust fan w/ speed controller would give you better control over temps, I just picked up a 265 cfm blower running at about 75% cooling a 150watt hps in a plastic storage cab, cost about the same as my S&P TD 100 and remarkably it's quieter... Then again plenty of folks run PC fans with great success...

If you did size up your exhaust fan, you could run that 250 in there with temp control and potentially better results... (granted light bleaching would be a potential problem i believe.)

I'll quit rambling and enjoy the show :D

Cheers

Yggdrasil- thanks for looking.

Ill just better explain the heating issue, IT IS ME BEING LAZY, but I like the feed back because the more I procrastenate I get more comments and more ideas!

I just have to bring the tools home from work since I have a small condo, I store all at work. Then I need to remove the false back to expose, scrubber, exaust, fans, wires, power strip etc.
Then I need to cut the fan wires and relocate 1 fan and stack my exaust and the issue should be more than good.
I am looking for the glass but as soon as I find that, I will make a cool tube for my 250 cmh and get it all back in.
Then while I am back there I want to redo the scrubber and light traps. I have a whole list of minor things I want to change. It is nothing that needs to be done right now but it will be better for lights and circulation. (and THE WIFE YELLS WHEN I BRING TOOLS HOME AND MAKE NOISE AND MESSES)

so now you see my real reason for pracrastanation but I love her!!

Thanks again and I appreciate all feedback good or negative. (just dont be a jerk :))
