Want to save the pollen

I have a hermaphrodite and i want to save it's pollen to make my own seeds.

It had been showing it's gender for 3 days. How much longer should i wait until i cut it down and harvest it's pollen.

I only have one room and can't isolate it. I want to know how long i can let it live before i have to take it out and harvest it pollen.

I would have normally taken it by now. Ya know kill DE males. I'm thinking of making my own female seeds.

:thank you:

I believe the hermie trait will be passed to the offspring so I also think you should look for a true male to gather pollen from.

Hermies tend to beget more hermies, but if you are willing to take the chance, it's your decision. I highly recommend you at least move it to a closet or chance seeding your entire grow. Male flowers have to mature too, and you can't really harvest the pollen until the pods mature and open. They mature fast. They can open within a week or two of showing sex. If you absolutely can't move it, trim off most of the plant, leaving only one branch, some leaves and a few pods and wrap a large plastic bag around it. Use a twist tie to enclose it. After the pollen drops, use an artist brush or q-tip to apply a bit to lower branches. A little goes a long way.

Isolating it is much safer, the bag thing will work in a pinch.

Like I said, hermies tend to beget more hermies, and as the other guys already said, it is better to use a true male.

why perpetuate bad genes. the goal of any kind of breeder is start with good stuff. and reject the others. once males are going you can put them just about anywhere and they will continue to do there thing. altho less than a plant in full light. but a little pollen goes along way

The only interesting thing in this thread is DiiZ post and his sig quote....LOL

Ok i thought you needed pollen from a hermy to get female seeds. If that is not the case it is pulled and will die soon.

Please verify and it will be done. :tiphat:

no no no. hermi pollen will only give you hermy prone plants not fems. to create fem seeds they induce male flowers on otherwise healthy females with some kind of chemical. if you have a herm throwing pollen then get rid of it asap.

TriWingGirl- You should take a look at this thread. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=60610

If you end goal is to make feminized seeds, this is the information that you need. In short, what you need is colloidal silver (silver particles suspended in water). This is something that is very easy to make yourself, you spray it on a female plant, and it will cause it to grow male flowers. Use the collected pollen on another female plant (this can be a clone of the same plant before treating it), and produced will be feminized seeds.

It may be worth your while to check out. And to top it off, colloidal silver is a safe product to be using. It is often sold at health stores, to be consumed for its health benefits. :canabis:
