Mosca Seeds Test Grow: Stinky la Pew x Old Time Moonshine

They sure do, at least some of them. There are some stem smells I recognize from the SLS runs as well, and some smells that are definitely different. (Some do have a very 'DJ' smell to them.)

Those pots are actually take-home containers from a local restaurant... larger than beer cups but the same idea. There is no equivalent opaque container to slide them in, but most of them (as you can see) are taped over. In my experience using them, though, I've found that the clear ones have no impact whatsoever on the plants.

Looking great SB, nice and healthy. For what its worth, sometimes I have noticed that kind of yellowing in my young vegging plants usually before a slight ph shift in the medium, at least in my experience. Take care dude:tiphat:

Thanks, Seismic.

I don't know whether the yellowing is pH or N deficiency, it could be either or both. (And one looks like the start of some Mg issues to my eyes, equally likely in this scenario.) The small bit of soil they were in probably lost the last of its dolomite and nutrients a few days before the up-pot. I could've done it a few days earlier when the first ones started to show yellow cotyledons, but the holidays screwed my timings up a slight bit. :smoke:

I was watering these last night and found a couple of small preflower nubs on two or three of them... usually that means I have the males starting to show. But it also means that I should be able to sort these out over the next couple of weeks, and then we can really get down to work.

Males

Males

Well, the sexing is all but finished. I've identified 5 males, 3 females, and I still have one which has not produced preflowers at all. (There's always one that's difficult... sheesh.)

This post will document the males - all of them are between 8 and 10" tall, fairly uniform in that regard. All of them aside from #8 are mostly single-cola - but #8 sure is branchy! It's as branchy as about anything I've ever grown at this stage, honestly. It also has a very different leaf structure. (Please disregard the burnt leaf... just a tiny bit of lightbulb contact. :smoke:)

Here's the pics:

Nice looking males SB, uncle is right #8 is definitely a standout stud. Thinking of f2's or any possible crosses? Take it easy:tiphat:

Thanks, guys.

I have thought about keeping one of the boys for pollen... I may at least keep one around until I can see what the strain's all about by flowering the fems. #s 8, 9 and maybe #2 all look like they're worth a second look as dads to me, while #s 5 and 6 are pretty unremarkable. 8 definitely has the lead right now... 9 has the smelliest stem and the largest, most robust canopy so I think he's got potential as well.

At this point, though, I am going to concentrate on the girls and we'll just see how the males shake out. They've been removed from the veg chamber and are just sitting out in ambient room light, since the girls in the big white pots now take up the whole tall half of veg. :smoke:

Pics of the females tonight!

Females

Females

So here are the three confirmed females so far. Pictures are from a couple of nights ago, I've just slacked on uploading them. All three are a bit different from one another, so I'm really interested to see how they flower out.

These may need to be flipped before clones can be cut, we'll see. I intend to back up all three as soon as I can.

As for plant #7, still no preflowers on that one so I guess it's just a waiting game. I hope she's just a late-showing female. :smoke:

Me too... she's about to flip, too, she's pretty tall already and I have an awful habit of growing seedplants way past my light.

Well, true to my word... #2 was up within an inch of the veg lights, so I tossed her in the tent. We have officially reached the first flip!

In other news, I'm a big fat idiot. 'Female' #4 up there is a guy. She had a couple of preflowers that looked for all the world like they had pistils... but evidently I was mistaken. She definitely, absolutely, certainly has balls. And no pistils.

Fortunately, however, #7 has finally shown sex - and it's a female! An actual, I saw actual pistils this time female. :smoke:

I swapped her into #4's pot last night, so she's only a few days behind. Looks like this will be a staggered start, flipping one plant per ~week.

I tell ya what... I had just assumed it was a sign of there being Thai genetics in the line. Sometimes I'll be damned if it's just not hard to tell. :smoke:
