Can I tie down my plant like this??

I have a SSH plant 3 weeks into flowering. It's already 3 feet tall, and still stretching quickly. My tent is only 55" tall, so I've started to tie it down. Fortunately, SSH is very pliable even at this stage, so no problems there. But I've never tied down a plant before, and I'd like some advice.

Right now, I expect to end up with something like the first picture. Will this work, and if so, do I need to worry about the weight of the buds stressing or snapping the stem? Would I need to support the stem somehow, or will it be fine?

The other option I was considering is the second picture, where I would bend the stem over to one side, and then once it has grown vertically again, bend it back the opposite way so that it ends up with a sort of hook shape. I'm not sure how this would affect the weight distribution on the stem, but it should help with balance.

Thoughts?

Consider an additional tie-down at the base of the stem. This should help counterbalance the plant so you don't risk pulling at the roots.

the resulting compressed fibers actually result in a stronger stem as well. You can pretty much tie up or down a plant any way you feel like. Try not to get dirt on your leaves (you may need to prune a little bit if you're really going sadist on them) but that's really about the only rule I follow.

if you tie it down like pic1 then you have to worry about the weight of the nugs tipping the plant over.

if you tie it down like pic2 you should be golden with no extra support
