Shooting White Hairs in Veg?

Hey guys,

Have kind of an interesting conundrum. Working with a clone plant that's been in veg for over three weeks now. Friend gave it to me and I have no idea what strain it is and I doubt I could find out. However this plant has been absolute joy to grow, no problems and rapid growth. However the plant is beginning to shoot a lot of white hairs and is starting to drink water like it's hit the flowering phase. However it's been on a continuous 20/4 light cycle under a 1,000 watt HPS light and I'm not going to be ready to hit the flowering cycle for at least another month. Especially since I just took some clones and I was hoping to make this a personal record grow. Did this plant just hit the flowering phase without my triggering it? And if so do you guys have any advice to get it back into veg so I can keep growing it out?

This is just my experience so take it as far as it goes, lol.

So long as you don't have an autoflower, preflowers shouldn't mature beyond one per node in veg. With the exception of some symmetrical growth (you may have a preflower on each side of the node.) Once you get to alternating growth, you should only have one preflower per node.

You could always up the hours of light but you shouldn't have to. If your preflowers start to cluster, I'm afraid it's beyond my experience to know what's happening at 20/4 in veg. Best wishes.:)

disco pretty much nailed it .. i was given a clone that turned out to be fast manitoba by mistake. even at 24/0 the thing went into full flower... "clustering" is the perfect term to describe the first symptoms of an autoflower ... there are a lot of those genetics out there these days. if that is what you have you won't be able to hit the reset button, she won't respond to anything you do. taking clones at that point is also pretty much a waste of time. they root but they won't "VEG"

Hmm... I'd be rather irritated if this was an autoflower plant. However since this plant is itself already a second generation plant (at least) wouldn't that rule out it being an autoflower?

yes it should, but keep an eye on it. i never see a clone as a "given" until i have seen it flower. been burned a couple times. read what disco said and watch for clusters. when i got my manitoba clone it looked fine. the one good thing is that what you have is a girl, no matter how south things go it can't do to much damage. just lost time

Sorry the pic sucks but just to give you an idea of what I'm working with here.

TBO, I can't see the flower but that location won't cluster. The whole thing is fractal and repeats itself. Clusters are likely to start at the periphery, especially at the top.

your right about that pick red .i can't see a thing.

i think the best way to explain what i'm trying to say is an older clone might look like it is in pre-flower the whole time it is in veg i.e it is producing a pistel at every node. BUT it will only be one on each side of the stem.. it won't start to "cluster" or form groups of them like when you actually go into flower. wish i had pics to show you but i am computer stupid.

is there an icmag for dummies thread that is made to help the computer inept ???

My mothers have are showing hairs also. So far it's only gone as far as one hair. Should I trash the genetics?

no man.

...and start a new thread so your question will get more attention.

btw, seeing a pistil or 2 is no cause for concern, i had a Banana Kush that ALWAYS looked like it was half in flower.

...and you say 'mothers', have you run them before?

when you start your own thread, give more details.

peace, SOG

Some plants will start flowering early if they get rootbound. However it sounds like you're seeing presex pistals which are completely normal.
