Most people use the coco alone or mix it with perlite..I don't think it matters what brand the perlite is, all perlite should be the same except for the size of the rocks. Open the bag of perlite, are they just plain white little rocks that crumble when you press them hard? Then cool it's perlite, you can use it.

If I were you I'd get some coco specific nutrients or use head's or rez's modified lucas formula which is just gen hydro flora micro and bloom. Coco has different requirements or something so you usually need to change up your feeding program compared to soil or hydro.

Hay i like to go 2/3 coco and 1/3 perlite. I don't use vermiculite any more the coco hold plenty of H2o. Then start off with 1/2 strength nutes.

Those nutrients you have will do fine. Actually I like the General Organic line and think it is a good choice for coco. Be sure and use the CaMg+ regularly if you do end up growing in coco.

And as for the coco... Just use it straight. Save the perlite and vermiculite for something else. I use fancy bagged coco (b'cuzz) so the blocks aren't something I am experienced with but consensus is that you should rinse your coco very well before using.

Good Luck!

Yep, i ran those GO nutes in coco with nice results.
You can ditch the vermiculite. Make sure to rinse your coco real well then pre-treat it with your CaMg+ solution at 5ml/gal.
You can go straight coco, a 75/25 coco/perlite mix, a 50/50 mix, or coco hempy or really anything you want. I prefer the coco hempy method.
Good luck.

I use straight coco coir with no amendments. My plants have never been happier. I contemplated mixing 10-25% perlite but I dont think is needed after seeing the results in pure coco.

Hope this helps.

isn't miracle grow perlite charged with some nutrients (mystery to me as perlite is inert)?
i would get pure perlite such as the fox farm chunky style one.

read the label on that bag. most of miracle grow mediums and amendments are charged with some chemical fertilizers. avoid burns by either using only water in the beginning or not using their products at all.

I would use the perlite and ditch the vermiculite. It will help get oxygen to the roots faster. Wash the coco good before mixing. Do you plan to hand water daily or recirc? I perfer to recirc. 1/2-1/3 strength nutrients for babies. Shoot for pH of 5.8. I keep it in range of 5.5 to 6.0 pH and they love it.

I just started a coco grow in a PC cab. Straight coco from Botanicare that is already rinsed.

The brick you have will need to be broken up and leached out with lots of water to rid of the salts that most likely are in there. This is why people get the bags already rinsed and ready to grow.

I supplemented my coco with CalMag(1/4 strength) and the sprouts seem to be fine with that. Going to just use water for now until they need nutes.

The bagged stuff is just not compressed, therefore easier to work with. Huge time saver from breaking it up and rinsing the salts out. Usually the bricked stuff is high in salt content unless the bag states it was rinsed. Since yours had no label I would rinse it to get out excess salts. Some people mix coarse brick coir with the fine coir to get a different consistency also.

I just started using it so I have little hands on experience. These are just things I read. The shop I go to for my coco don't even carry bricks because people only want bagged uncompressed coco.

I personally would never mix any perlite with Coco..

If you're using generic nutes or any nutes that aren't coco specific, you'll more than likely have to supplement Cal/Mag, I did, once I started using Coco specific nutes, haven't had problems since...:tiphat:
