Hypothetical (Sketchy) Scenario

hey whats up guys. long time no see. i have scenario i want to run by you guys and see what yall think.

a friend of mine is looking to rent out a 2000 sqft home in a nice neighborhood. there is one really nice house but once springtime comes around the owners want to sell it, so my friend will be getting a reduced rent due to an open house(not likely) and private showings of the place. lets say he had some beans ge.rminat.ing right now and start to finish will be done at the end of april. do you guys think

a) a 8'x4'x7'height plywood room completely sealed with all the proper air ventilation/ can scrubbing. locked of course and packed in tightly somewhere in the house where it could be considered a storage box with other clutter around it. it would be shutdown just prior to leaving for private showing to come through.

b) 1 or 2 Dark Room grow tents used. when friend has to leave for private showing to come over he gets 24hours notice, throws girls in a sealed box in basement 4x6x4. locked of course and with other clutter put on top of this "storage box" with proper air cleaning.

this isnt going to happen, and its definitely a bad idea. but do you guys think someone could pull this off with a relatively low chance of getting busted. we are talking 10 fems tops, nothing over 2kw.

You've clearly never looked at a house for sale. Not a chance this would be pulled off. Either the showing agent or the potential buyer's will know even if the plan goes perfectly, most likely it won't though.

Think about it, do you think it would fool us? If not 100% you'd fool an experienced IC magger, then I wouldn't try this in any non-med state. But I'm betting if you legal this wouldn't have come up at all....

Bad idea.

You're talking about a pretty large box and you want that jammed behind a lot of stuff. Ok, that might be ok to conceal but factor in all of the noise from the fans. I would not do it.

money is not an issue. this isnt going to be done to make money. its strictly for personal consumption. my friend suffers from manic depression.

theres actually a good chance the house wont be open for sale until spring so no one will be there til april or may. if he forces flower in the first 2 weeks of February it might be able to finish before all this mess starts.

what do you guys think about a 4x4x4 box that is sealed to throw the plants in to right before someone has to come look at the place. there will be no fan on the box, it will not make noise at all. there will be other clutter on top of the "storage chest." smell will eventually become an issue with the girls inside this box, but if they are only in there for 2 hours at the most, with some glade fresh scent shit nearby(mild not overwhelming obv) you think this is do-able?

i understand 2kw is pry too much to do under these circumstances because of the size of the box needed to house these, but what do you guys think about a 4-9 banger run in a 3x3 or 4x4 tent- 600 to 1000w

this is a 2000sqft house and my friend has considered building a 1 foot deep by 6 foot wide false wall somewhere in the house(similar to The Berlin Wall pt2-awesome thread here on IC) not to grow in but to hide them once ppl come over.

my friend could also go all out and pack the basement with a SOG. and if the landlord decides to sell before this run is over, my friend can ditch em all and just accept the loss

In this economy? Hell yeah...

It's likely that the place won't even be showed anyway. Unless it is a really high dollar place that's being offered super low, nobody is buying property now. Most people are trying to avoid foreclosure.

I just got informed that my place will be put on the market next April and I am legal but my landlord would shit bricks. So I have to keep my grows stealth too.

It isn't hard to build false walls or even find a friends place and build the room, do a couple grows and let the friend have the room, minus the equipment of course. Or share the room, hell I have done that too. If your friend is legal, find somebody else who is legal but can't afford to set up a grow op and partner with them for a few grows.

After the house is listed expect a walk through by the agent,in addition the sales agent will have a copy to the front door key. Tenants are usually given 24 hours notice before a showing, but what if the sales person or the landlord forget to tell you or the potential buyer wants to see it right now.

it would be a storage box, no bigger than 4 feet tall(would make it much smaller because all other equipment would be broken down and packed away), lined against the wall in the basement. kinda like those crates behind home plate at little league baseball diamonds with the padlock on both sides. its a pretty big house and was once a duplex so it wouldnt stand out really IMO, what do you guys think? he would have it open like a big chest freezer, but would have other stuff on top of it along with a padlock on one or both sides-- if for some reason they wanted to try to take the stuff of the top of it and open it up.

not even 2-4 girls in a 2x2 box somewhere in the house. stealthed out of course.

or what about packing the basement full but then trashing all of it as soon as he hears the house is on the market and ppl will start coming over. theres a good chance he can go from start to finish before the house is even put on the market. losing money in this deal isnt a problem, my friend is very stable financially. btw thank you for your opinion sleepy

Hiding plants will never cut it, the room will stink for hours, even days. You'll have to clean every surface in the grow room with alcohol. Every wall the plants brush against on the way, everything you touch after handling the plants, your shirt where you carried them, all are going to stink.

Really it just ain't reasonable at all under any circumstances unless you're legal. I've been in hundreds of houses under similar circumstances, and we definitely notice large boxes. The agent and potential buyers are there to LOOK at shit. They also smell shit (try selling a house in the rural south where an Indian family lived and cooked for 20 years, damn near impossible!). The agent at least will be suspicious, and pissed because s/he is wasting real money in a tough economy to market a house that your grow op is sabotaging the sell of, they will take it personal and rat you for it.

And don't think people won't look at it, property is still selling in all markets outside of detroit. Neighbors are nosy and love to look at houses, hell, some people just waste agents time to look at houses to get decorating ideas etc.

OK, now that I've pooped all over your idea, sounds like you REAALLLYY want to do this. I'd say about the best you could hope to get away with would be a stealth cab, max 3x3x5. Put in a very small fluro bulb so before showings you can turn off the lights and fans, but not leave them in the dark. Anything bigger than that, and everybody who comes in the house will ask, what the hell is that thing? Some will know the answer to question.

All this really comes back to if money isn't an issue and this is personal / medical but in a nonmedical state, just buy the fricking pot. Remember money isn't an issue?

There's a good chance he won't have any/much warning. How competent is the realtor? Will they have a home inspector come before marketing it? What about any repairs? A friend of the family who wants to take a look at it before it's listed by the agent? FAR too likely somebody will have access, and little to no warning.

Can't tell you how many times people will show houses without appointments, show up early, be confused think a house is vacant when its not, etc.

By law in most states, tennants have 24 notice, which they can't really refuse access. But that will only help you AFTER you are in JAIL....

You just got good advice, several times here.

But, sounds like "your friend" is
hell-bent an' jail bound.

So, jus' lemme get my "tol' ya so" rights nailed down with this simple formula.

Shit can happen = Shit WILL happen.

And at the worst possible time.

Act accordingly.

Best of luck,

Wait what why is everyone saying no. I would say absolutly. U have pelenty of time to pull off a harvest. You have roughly 3 months before even having to worry about visits and showings. That gives u a few weeks to veg and then flower. U just have to ask yourself if its worth the trouble of setting everythin up only to have to take it all down rather soon.

Because people considering selling their houses often have reasons to give people access BEFORE its on the market.
-They may try to show it to a few people before it's listed to save the commission
-in many states/markets sellers have the house inspected before listing
-agents doing a walkthrough to advise the seller on listing price
-multiple agents if the seller wants to choose between more than 1 or get multiple pricing opinions
-repairs
-updates
-painting
-appraiser

ALL of these things could require access before the house is listed.

I will also point out, the title of the thread includes the word SKETCHY. Who wants to intentionally setup a sketchy grow, likely in a felony mandatory minimum state?

If a small stealth setup isn't enough, a shed/container grow might be feasible. Access is controlled, and the entire grow moves with the tenant.

these are all great points and i totally agree this isnt a house to be growing in. the points above should deter my friend from going 2kW+ hit n run.

2 girls or 6-8zips would really help tho..

what if he went the 2kw route but as soon as he hears from the landlords about ppl starting to come over, he ditches everything except whatever fits in a stealth cabby. basically gambling he'll be able to get a quicky in before it sells, prepared to bite the bullet and trash it all instantly

and again, money is no issue so trashing everything will really hurt emotionally, but not financially at all. and even if he has to trash it, its the same result as if he never started. still no buddies =\ oh, but the possibility of fucking up and getting busted before he can tear down....
