the true key is to not bounce light off the walls, and concentrate the light to fill the space. However, it's not totally practical in a lot of applications.

:yeahthats - I agree, this is key. Properly setting up lights is far more influential than whats on the walls.

That said, having used all at one time or another, I vote for: Clean White walls.

there is a thread here somewhere showing the reflectivity % of each tyoe pf application. all i recall is mylar type products were only a few % points more effective than flat white or flat yellow. glossu white or yellow is no bueno, it refracts instead of reflects. another issue is, the diamond type reflective material that produces the best overall reflection, also keeps heat inside the cabin b/c of its insulation properties. that to me, is a big issue. i have decided to go w/ flat white from now on or the white film of any sorts, doesnt have to be the expensive panda film either. but, w/ such nominal increase in reflection, i prob am gonna stick w/ flat white & focus more upon the light set-up & reflectors. thats the most important aspect, the light set up. u can always add a 42 watt cfl's on the sides to even out the light on the bottom & sides. only reason i choose mylar or camping blankets for 2 bux anywhere is b/c it does not hold heat as much as the thicker car windshield reflector type materials. if u turn any light on, u can clearly see the difference & additional light on the plant. when placed against flat white, u can see more light on the plan too, but it drastically decreases intensity the further away the white walls are. at 1ft apart, my cheap light meter showed a slight difference in favor of the mylar. but, mylar is so flimsy, you must make certain u keep it unwrinkled & flatter than something realllly flat lol. mylar can & will cause hot spots if u are not careful. lastly, if you foliar spray, which most people do from time to time, greatly aggects the mylar. so you have to jeep it clean constantly. thats why w. all the factors, i am goin eith flat white hence forth. i also top off each pot w/ perlite too to help reflect the light up into the plant.

edit - sorry for typos, i was trying to type in the dark.
