Hi all

Just finished setting up my 50L DWC Tub outside and jammed some Tomato and Capsicum(bell pepper) seedlings in hydroton in netpots.

Whats the go with nutrients for these plants?

I've started with half strength GT Grow, do i need to switch to bloom for tomatos and capsicums? or will they run with the grow the entire time?

Thanks

my tomatoes liked extra magnesium added. and if my nitrogen was too high the tomatoes flowers would drop . so yes i would switch to bloom after some flowers start showing. your results may vary

As soon as the tomato set fruit, switch to a bloom mix/formula. Make sure they are still receiving some nitrogen tho, either thru your mix or a supplement. What kind of matoes are they btw? Me and my wife are fiends for really good tomatoes, love heirlooms esp. We had 75 tomato plants in our backyard this summer, a couple are still limping away.
Where are you if you dont mine me asking? I'd wait a couple more months, or until after the last freeze if your in the northern hemisphere. Gonna be awesome if your Costa Rica tho~
I've always wanted to try DWC here, but the summers get over 100+ here, and I just dont see the roots prospering in those conditions. Maybe I'll give it a whirl anyways. I'd hittem with a 1/4 dose mix till they get rollin, watch em close, you might have to dilute, or add. Click some shots too, I'll be watching, good luck~

Same applies to chillies. To give you an idea stuff like Chilli Focus has an npk ratio like 3.0 - 0.9 - 4.3

I've been running lucas on chili peppers for years w/o any issue. The oldest productive plant we have is around 4 years now. Root & top pruning is key to long term productivity in my opinion. Older peppers make AMAZING bonsai candidates.

I get more flower drop from temp swings than anything else, but we're still averaging about a kilo per dwc unit per month. Peppers are probably the only plants that are really productive under the really short light hours we get here in winter with fairly minimal light supplementation.

We've used Lucas GH, Maxibloom, the vertigro (sp) formula, pbp & some stuff from scratch all with equal success. Just remember they love their mg & calcium.

I even had veggies growing out in my front yard. I told my neighbors to help themselves, and they did. It was alot of fun, gonna do it even better this year.

Not much to see with my DWC just yet.

Just a 12.5Gal container with 4 net pots and seedlings.

Seedlings have doubled in size since they were put in.

I'm using this as a test before i ask the boss to let me do a full aquaponics setup :D
