speaking of rev's gear and i'm not sure about this so don't start the burning ohgee at the stake thingy again if i'm wrong or talking about somethin' diff. m'kay?

i have found what smells like a grapefruit pheno of the aw x c99 and am stoked. so we'll see. posting pics on cali pot snob soon. i would love to get a link or post number to some detailed info on the c99 from rev if anyone knows, i searched already.
Why the stake reference...lol.

With REv's C99 line it's very homogeneous and mostly over ripe, to me not 'rotten', tropical fruit with pineapple overtones. I'm sure there's other phenos in there and when you combine C99 with something else who knows what'll you'll get in the end for fragrance/flavors but C99 usually adds flavor enhancement to any cross.

No dedicated REv C99 thread or detailed info here I know of and Sub has probably posted more info about that line here than anyone else. Hopefully I can get some of his stock to SeedBay and then things will kick up a notch.

The AW x C99 sounds nice :)

Smart Pots for Dummies....Maybe not

Smart Pots for Dummies....Maybe not

Happy Sunday All. Awhile back I mentioned I was going to be trying out CocoTek pots to grow in. They do the same root pruning trick as SmartPots resulting in better root systems. I was surprised at the learning curve I experienced in making the change from standard plastic containers. I've made a collection of mistakes ( some unrelated to the pots ) that I could call learning opportunities but have decided to go back to plastic containers for the time being. Here's some random things I've experienced-

The CocoTek pots aren't that big ( yes i know SmartPots are available HUGE). To make the best use of what space there is I found myself filling them completly to the top with grow media. When it comes time to up pot, just stacking the smaller pot on top works well. Filling the pots to the top made a slow, almost drip like watering necessary so it would seep into the soil before running off the top.

Smart Type pots dry out faster. More frequent watering have the potential for faster bulid up of salts. This could impact need to flush more. Wider swings in moisture levels probably impact soil pH as well.

I'm really used to being able to check root health by popping the plastic container off of a developed root ball. The ability to see the root system has helped me trouble shoot unhappy plants....often revealing something as simple as need to up pot. The ability to view the root ball is lost because you'd do some damage getting the smart pot pulled off.

...So....I can't blame the product. I think they have great potential. I just need to get some meds grown and for the moment that means going back to plastic pots.

If you have a grapefruit pheno in AW x C99.. Then that means you got a AW pheno... Considering AW smells like straight grapefruits.

:tiphat:sorry Molly, from my experience i would say no that is not Lavender Kush. I have grown the lavender and it is a much squatter plant with very little stretch and super bright reddish orange hairs and turnip shaped nugs. Not sure what those are, in my honest opinion.

Hi everyone, I just had a question as to whether anyone can tell me if this is hoggsbreath or the other cut.
picture.php

Also, I have three vanilla luna males, they look like this
picture.php

I have never bred before but I am thinking of collecting all of the pollen from all three vanillaluna males and using it to cross back to the variegated part on the one female I have in order to maintain as much of the genetic expression as possible as well as keep the variegated gene. Am I correct about approaching this in this manner with these goals in mind? (these seeds were pricey and I would like to not have to purchase more :)

Here are the rest of the guys: We got four Chem Blues which are huge(positions 1,3,4, and nine from the left respectively), so are the females!
picture.php

We got one master kush male(Hi shan)(at position 5 from the left), nothing new to note except very little stretch but very reddish not quite purple nuts . The female on the other hand is very stretchy. biggest plant in my room at this point

We got one Jack the ripper(position 10 from the left), healthiest and thin bladed- easy to see thai- I have one female right now out of all the others that already looks like it is going to be a winner. with thin bladed dark leaves that act like solar panels.

one JHxSSxUKCHxSS(Hi Sub Rob), this plant is on par with the Chem blues, it is massive.

Anyway pics soon of the ladies!!
Thnx for letting me share Mito-:blowbubbles:

Quick question for you guys:
When is it ok to put plants outdoors for the outdoor season? I.E. not have them flower immediately. I know we don't have a frost but on the internets it says 3/30 is the supposed last frost date for SD. Sorry if this is an ignant question and thanks for the help!

a lot of strains will trigger though if you start when its 12/12 straight up. depends what light source they are coming from, you gotta wean em into the light cycle, cant go 20/4 straight to 13on/11off imo.

I think seeds are the way to go if you want to start early outdoors....and we all know there's some killer genetics floating around SD in seed form! :plant grow:

That looks like the Hogs Breath or the pre-98 Hog's Breath as we should start calling it. I will post some recent pics later tonight. The smell is unmistakable. Garlic Sage. She's def Sativa leaning and pushes frost all the way down her petioles. A very heavy feeder.

Those vanillaluna's look almost identical to one another. I would assume this is from a careful breeding strategy. There are different theories regarding variegation in Cannabis but I would guess you will probably move further from variegated seedlings than DJ short's original cross as he most likely selected his male from a much larger pool. It will be interesting to see.

BTW; Alien Dub looking good. Seeds hopefully mature in 10-12 days. Yield in the range of 50-100 beans.
