I am a little worried that it's too late to plant my seeds for an outdoor crop. I am in the Melbourne area...What do u guys think? Is there enough time for vegging?

It depends on the strain... A short-flowering variety might be best.

I say its never too late, they just won't be as big... I got a "grower's calendar" at the nimbin mardigrass one time. It was done up by 'Kog'. Its basically a circular/pie shaped calendar telling you to plant in september and harvest in april etc. but it also says to plant in february/march and june/july for winter crops....

I'll try draw one up soon...

If your starting from seed its way too late to be planting in Vic, especially south Vic I would think; if you have some plants under some lights to go out it would be alright.

In your area I would be starting indoors around Sept/Oct and planting Nov/Dec or something, since the weather doesnt start getting consistently good until then. Probably need strains with shorter flowering period down that way too, guessing early frost could be an issue?

Cheers.

yeah i would say your ok, you wont get a great deal (yield) but grab some cuttings from them. put a few inside under a fluro and throw em back outside again when they at a good height..

I'm anticipating a dry winter.. so it may be ok outside later on..

its been a shit summer for growing anyway. most of my girls are tiny..

I am germing some seeds today.

But they will all be in pots with a view to finish up inside if need be.

Putting them in pots will encourage a faster finish also.

I am in Tas.

The weather outlook doesnt look great, they were just saying on the news this La Nina probably wont start breaking up until late Autumn/Winter; not great for southern growers.

Anyway you have nothing to lose I guess, would be interested to see how you get on. Finding a good sheltered spot that retains heat, like a north facing wall (old building) or something, might help.

Good luck bro :tiphat:

Mold tips:

1. Make sure there is good airflow around plant. Take out all big leaves and small branches etc around base and middle of plant.
2. Make sure plant is well fertilised and not stressed
3. Feed dissloved aspirin in waterings weekly
4. You can spray neem oil solution which kills mold spores. Also ecorose which you can buy in bunnings etc is good as a PREVENTATIVE.

Once you have it get ready for a constant battle and be prepared to spray again after it rains.

Last year most of my plants got hit once the cold and wet weather started.

There are strains resistant such as Reclining Buddah but they certainly aint immune. I have heard good things about Esbe's genetics. Check out the Scottish forum for some good strains.

Also anything that has fat and tight buds is more likely to get budrot. Sativas are much more resistant but they need warm weather and a longer season...

I havent tried auto flowers but they sposed to be very good.

Thanks silver! I migt try out Ecorose. I heard some ppl spray baking soda water as a preventative as well. Mold can't live and propagate in an alkaline environment.
Anyone heard of this?
What is in Eco rose?

Potassium bicarbonate is better than sodium bicarbonate if you can get it.
Sensa soak is a myth. The sex of the seed is determined at fertilization, sensa soak, unicorn urine, pixie dust or anything else you have heard will not change it.
You can grow outdoors in most of aus most of the year but anything you put out after august might start to reveg before they finnish flowering.

Ecorose is potassium bicarbonate.

But i stress the point. To use it properly you need to spray before the cold and wet weather arrives. It will get bound up in your buds and help keep them fresh if you start to spray from week 2 or 3 of full flower. That is my plan this year.

We have entered a mini ice-age and better get used to a more wild weather for 50 years or so...

Damn i guess i wasted my money on the stuff. We shall see how it does though. Try growing the stuff through winter in melbourne or tasmania...not gonna happen. :)
