Best Carbon Filter period

So after reading through the phresh filter thread I am reconsidering purchasing one of these and have come to the question what is the best carbon filter on the market period? I think this would be a good thread to lump all experiences of every brand you can think of (phresh, phat, can, mountain air, etc) in one place both bad and good. If you want too you can add how many wattsyou are running, size of room, what strains, what size filter and what size fan is attached. So lets hear what is the best proven carbon filter on the market that lasts?

im really diggin fresh

A) at the price compared to others you can afford to keep a spare, redundancy is really more than a luxury in this game

B) footprint and weight

C) effective

the cons might include ease of getting them, seems only a handful of distributors carry them

before fresh i used exclusively can fans and filters for years and years

now its vortex on a proper speed controller and phresh sp grateful i went this direction

This phat i bought is huge for $99.Has at least 23 lbs of carbon. This is more filtering than i will ever need for 5x5 area. The best thing..."The fan speed controller" for $19.99....The Rehostat in the controller allows you to adjust the speed from a complete stop.to exactlly the speed u want...This is awesome cause you can turn it down really low in early flower or veg ,then turn it up during late flowering..Thus protecting the life of the filter ...This is tits...im so happy with these 3 items for $239..:ying:

I cant remember if it was Phat Filter or Fresh Filters but they had one which claims to be the equivalent of a Can Filter 100, but was like half the physical size.

Anyone have any experience.

Typically run Can 100 w/ 8" MAX fan or Can 150 w/ 10" MAX fan.

Would love to run a smaller filter provided its still allowing the CFM throughput and 100% odor free. I'm weary of the smaller filters doing the same job.

I'm about to change out my can99 and was leaning towards the phresh until the last couple of posts in that thread. How about the airbox? I believe Krunch was running one, but there's little info and limited users. Can's are just so damn heavy!

I love my home made filter every time that I see it I think to myself I built that bitch. It works great and I was able to custom build it and I can change the specs at any given notice. I bought 5lbs of activated carbon from a pet shop for $5 (I asked if they had bulk).

Yeah its a little bit ghetto right now but next grow I will do something about that but that is just cosmetics.

i got a filter & fan, when I pulled the filter section out of the box there was a lot of black residue on the filter, possibly from poor handling in the mail(and the carbon or whatever else is inside spilled out into the filter some)? Is it okay to set this up and start using it, or should I be cleaning the white filter or something?

I think I'm going to look into another mountain air, but this time I'm going to make sure I have the right size fan hooked up (my current mountain air has too big of a fan on it).

i built my own filter, it is triple core unlike most you buy. i can take a huge nasty shit after a night of drinking in this thing and you wouldnt smell it. cost my 30 bucks and i have alot of leftover carbon to change out when needed.

I have 2 homemade and am currently researching to upgrade both. I am mainly intrested in the ones that are designed and easy to refill the carbon when the time comes. Right now the one in my flowering room has way to small a fan on it to handle the smell.

IMO the best ones are anything that is well built, but the amount of carbon inside is the key. I've seen some filters where there is as little as an inch thick of pellets (between the outer mesh wall and the inner mesh wall). My local shop makes their own brand of scrubbers and have a minimum of 2 inches of pellets, the thickest I've seen.
