although i dont use an ac in my tent (ab the same size as yours) ive thought about it plenty and your best bet would prob be to slice a hole in that thing and put a window unit in there on a stand. i read alot of complaints about the ducted portables that are way more expensive than a window unit and take up precious floor space. you didnt mention if you aircool your lights so im assuming you dont - but in either case you should prob. just get the biggest one you can get ahold of. good luck man

I'm interested in this as well.

If anyone has experience, I'd love to know the answer to this before I go and spend a bunch of money on something that may not work well enough for me.

And since summer is 4 months away, I should start planning for this now.

I would cut a hole and put the window a/c on a stand outside of the tent. Just have the front grill of the a/c inside the tent. With the difference in price I just couldn't justify buying a portable over a window unit. Like mentioned, you would also save precious floor space.
If you could find a store that has some a/c's in stock now, you could prolly get a sick deal on it since it's out of season.

I have used a portable ac sitting outside the tent and my buddy uses a portable ac sitting inside the tent.
It is a dual-hose ac, which is the only type of portable you should get if you have settled on a portable even though they are inefficient as shit and require their exhaust to be scrubbed as they let out some grow room air.

13k btu dual hose portable for an 8x8 tent easily kept it cool, Id get 10k-13k. I now use a window ac with a box I built for my tent....
cutting a hole in the tent and getting a $75 window unit on craigslist is probably worth it.
