LED for vegging only in a 3' x 2' space

Heya lighting forum!

I can't find any info by searching on LED's for vegging only. Most threads are trying to get it to work with flowering stage.

I am not.


So, any suggestions for vegging with LED in a 2' by 3' closet that would not require sophisticated ventilation?

Am I better off with fluorescents?

Well depends what ur are lookin to spend....but there is a nice fluoro (pll style) @ htgsupply.com 4 bulb t5 220w measures 2x2x3".....140 + s&h.

I also have 2 126w led panels from hgl and used one in the past to veg out my plants in the same space u mentioned. So there's two options for you....others will have more to share good vibez

If you do some homework and really read a lot on this subject. It has been documented many times in many LED threads that plants LOVE LED light and grow very well in the veg stage under LED. The concentrated wavelengths the LEDs emit give tighter node spacings and more vigorous growth.

Less heat makes LEDs great for small cabinets also. If you are just looking to veg, you probably don't need a whole lot of watts to give good results. Maybe 20-30 LEDs evenly spread out. Blue, white, and red. 2 inch spacing on an Aluminum angle or U channel should be fine.

Until recently the lack of good high powered LEDs made flowering hard to do without spending insane money. Now things are changing. Its still expensive, but LED will be king in small cabinet setups soon. Then onto cheaper LEDs to make large commercial grows economical and more efficient. Its just the natural progression of technology.
