36hr darkness to induce faster flowering?

Hello,

I have my girls in darkness now, vegged for a week, and going to keep 36hr darkness before going to 12/12 photoperiod.

The reason why I am doing this is because I wish it will give the girls a kickstart to make some fat flowers!

Any opinions on this one? :clover:

Just reduce the light to 12/12 ...........in 2 weeks you will see flowering ,that shit doesn't matter. old wives tales

mr cheese & Dread - Thanks for the encouragement!

est1977: I know that thats how it normally goes. Seen it many times, but I am just hoping this trick would give an extra kickstart to the flower, so in 2 weeks from starting 12/12 I'd have good size buds already.

All input is welcome!

deff not an old wives tale.. i ran the same strain for a good 7 years so obviously i knw her back to front and i noticed the onset of flower 3 to 4 days earlylier using 36hrs dark before 12,12.. i have no reason to lie, run the same strain in the same room ect and try it then tell me its an old wives tale. all the best n stay safe...mrc

i'd prefer the extra 3 days growth that the light cycle would give you. if i wanted them to start flowering earlier i would veg them for 3 days less rather than stress them by giving 36hrs dark. im sure it will speed up flowering, but also i dont believe it will do the plant any good.

Plants grow during the night. 3 days of darkness could add too much stretch if you're not accounting for that extra growth.

Most people just reduce the lights to 12/12 like est1977 said. No need to add the extra work.

Despite giving the 36hrs darkness in the beginning of 12/12, I do not experience that it would have made flowering any faster; I have ran the same cuts for a few rounds now, so I have something similar to compare to.

I wouldn't say that it made it any slower either, but like someone said, better just go with 12/12 only, no any weirdtricks.
