I am popping some HEADBAND and SLEESTACK fem beans. 12 of each. I currently have them in shotglasses on the heating pad.

The question is how should I take them from sprout until they are ready for an 8" pot of Hydroton and a DWC set up in the 5 gallon bucket?

All would be done under flourescent ligths....
1. Can I put em in dirt or some coco until they get roots to the bottom of the glass?

2. Should I cut the bottom out of some 12oz party cups and put hydroton in them and place the cups in a plastic constainer that will hold a little watter in the bottom??? I'm leaning this way.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The only way I have done it is using rockwool cubes for germination and transferring them to the hydroton and keeping the water level touching the hydroton in order to keep the roots moist. Good luck.

I did the same using Growdan cubes, I also top watered by hand at least once a day for the first couple weeks.

put them in coco or soil in your party cup then when ready to transplant put holes in the party cup then put in the hydroton that way you dont desterb the roots thats what i do when not useing jiffy or r/w cubes cheers EASY

i germinate in wet paper towel using 2 plates as a humidity dome and place it on top of my reflector hood for warmth. once i get roots i place into soil for a week, the i just gently dig/pull them out, rinse roots clean and place into net pot with hydroton. simple, quick, and ive never had anything bad happen like ripping too much root or anything.

Place the seed in warm, moist rockwool or similar and you wont need the towels or the soil and you wont have to pull them out.

RApid rooters, rockwool, you can even take the seedling and put it in to an aero cloner and veg it a bit before you put it in to your DWC.

I just germ them longer, until 1- 1-1/2" and put them into the bottom of the net cup with 1/2" of hydroton to hold it up. Add hydroton as it grows.

it will work put your perlite in your party cup put lots of holes in it for the roots to pop through then you dont need to damage the roots just put the party cup in the hydroton in your net pots that way you dont have to wait for them to get over the stress of transplanting them .and all the perlite or soil or what ever stays in the party cup with no crap gettin in your dwc i no its easyer to put them in r/w cubes or jiffy pellets but as you said you havent got any so this way i find works best for me and hopefully it will for you
good luck and stay lucky EASY

No prob dude. You can carefully put the taproot through one of the holes in the bottom of the net cup and surround it with hudroton so it is even more exposed to the water.
xeasyx- that's a good idea too like a mini hempy bucket, nice.
