Why are rolling papers always bigger than size on package?

I

So I picked up a pack of zig zag 1 1/2 ultra thins the other day and I got them home and they were huge, so I grabbed a ruler and measured them and they were 3 inches wide.

I always thought that the size on the pack was the total width of the papers. I check a pack of orange 1 1/4's I had laying around and they were actually 1 3/4 inches wide. Whats up with this?

seems kinda like a 2x4, i believe they are really 1.5 inches by 3.5 due to the drying, but hey lets call it like it is, atleast thats how it should be....sh*t aint really a two by four....

when i roll joints I tear the glue strip and a little paper just to make it less harsh. Then just roll tight and smooth to get a nice un glued joint that stays tight.

Doesn't have anything to do with the drying...2x4s simply don't need to be 2"x4" to do the jobs they are spec'd for...so they have shrunk over time but the name has stuck

and orange zigzag 1 1/4s are definitely the best papers around

orange zigzags are some of the worst papers... way to thick try the thins... blue and silver... youll never smoke a orange again...

No glue on these and they stick better than glue papers. Least ash of any paper I've tried.

They quit making the eighty some paper square packs and now we can only get cardboard boxed long folded Modianos in the states.

I used Elements not so long ago and was suprised that a gummed paper had so little ash... but Modianos are still my favorites.

dunno what your gettin at.... regardless its a 2x4 and it really isnt that length, like i said... but here ya go.....

When It Is Sawed In A Saw Mill It Is 2" X 4" , Then It Is Kiln Dried And Surfaced. Therefor You Loose Material, Most All Wood Sizes Are Given In Mill Size. 2X6, 2X8, 2x10 ect, These Are The Sizes They Were Cut At The Sawmill.

mmmm...i could be way off in left field here, but i never took that number as a measurement, it's a ratio

like 1 1/4 are 25% larger than what a 'single' sheet standard was, 1 3/4 is 75% larger than that single sheet standard. if you ever see things labeled 'doublewide', they'll usually have 2 on the label somewhere

the 300 pack is the big one that has the inner folded drawer thingy. thats the only size they sell around here.
