Now thats worth staying up all night fishing for right there!

Congrats, thats a fine flathead.

yeah he was a big mofo....i wrestled him 25 mins as he was bending a 10ft surf pole like it was a twig ...i had 15lb testline on him so i basically reeled him in and pushed the button give him slack til he wore himself out ...after 25mins of that the wife netted him with 2 nets like tongs one on each end threw him up on shore and waited til early morn to turn him in on the tournament which he took 1st on we was pulling them in all day in some hot and humid weather upper 90's from bottom with shrimp, bluegill and night crawlers, chicken livers when it cools down we all fish bout 10-42inches deep and slay them all night and all morning but when its hot above 80F it seems they like it on bottom atleast thats what we did last night seemed to work ...

most the time i do shitty when its hot out

that sucker is huge i got some buddies here that run drop lines in the river and catch huge flathead catfish in the 60 to 70 pound range. what kinda cat is that. it looks similar to what we would call a bull head cat here in the south

myself i thought it was a bull head but owners of the lake swear its a shovel so i went with the flow ur guess is as good as mine its one of the two

Like superman said... did u eat that big fucker?

Catfish = fried fish? Older catfish = less yummy? Or more work? Less tender, more mud tasting?

Flatheads are probably the tastiest imo of the catfish family.Every time i caught one i would take to my grandmother, she was a helleva cook and would fix a big fish dinner.Size never did hurt the taste imo.Actually i think the bigger fish are easier to fillet than the small ones.

blue catfish, channel catfish then flathead. as far as taste goes flatheads are last on my list. i have a board where i nail their heads then a slice and out come the pliers and pull away all the skin ,after that its cake. i like 6 lbs max for keeping. the skin is easier to pull away the flesh is more tender and tasty.

Oh yeah.i like them all, maybe it was just her good cooking that made the big ones taste just as good.I would say flathead, channel cat, then blue cat.But they all are good.

Reminds me of a 22 pound blue I caught on a barbie pole with 6 pound test, talk about a long drawn out fight. I couldn't believe I landed it.
