that all the most pot-friendly states are the most difficult to live in? Oregon has a high cost of living and a horrific economy. California is worse. Maine and Michigan have a lowish cost of living but zero jobs. Colorado has a reasonably stable economy but a relatively high COL, and they seem to be having trouble sustaining MMJ in the mountains.

Didn't notice a thing....

I did however see the lunar eclipse last week and that was kinda cool.

I live in Michigan. You are right about there being zero jobs. I'm up in the U.P. where the job market is pretty much non existent. But....if you wanna make your living by growing pot, it's a great place to be! The air and water is soo clean and the scenery is beautiful. The food is amazing. The winters are long and snowy (lake effect snow) but it's great if you like winter activities, cause there's all kinds of fun stuff to do. And the summers are unbeatable, its so beautiful here in the summer time. The MMJ law is pretty lax, 5 patients max plus yourself, 12 plants per patient. Only downside is you can store no more than 2.5 ounces max "finished product" per patient, but the law is vague and this particular limitation is not difficult to get around. The cops/courts are nowhere near as corrupt/fascist as I've seen elsewhere. The MMJ scene is growing and there are hydro shops and dispensaries popping up everywhere. The cost of living is sooo cheap here and with the kind of money you can make from growing pot, you can live very well. I'm in a small college town and the atmosphere here is vibrant and fun. It's the kind of place where if you are good at what you do, you can make a name for yourself and be somebody. There's tradeoffs wherever you go, but for a business man who wants to grow pot for a living, Michigan (especially the UP) is a great place to be.

It's interesting... but I think if anyone looks a little deeper they'll notice it's nothing more than a coincidence. Detroit used to be the automotive capital of the world... CA probably got hit the worst by the housing market bubble... for the most part everywhere in ME except the coast has historically been poor... etc, etc.

Moreover... income/economic growth/GDP,etc =/= quality of life. I'd wager that the quality of life is most likely highest in MMJ friendly states.

Our house in Calif appraised for $226.000.00 2-3 years ago.

now if where lucky we could get $69K for it.

Most everyone I know is Up Side Down on their Home Loan luckily I'm not.

My area in Calif has an Unemployment rate of 18.4%.

Hell if your lucky your still getting unemployment.. :fsu:

when you say no jobs, are you being literal? Is there 10 an hour stuff floating around for people with college degrees and no felonies, for example?

I despise winter, but a remote, affordable life has it's appeals.

I've heard OK things about grand rapids area. Ann Arbor rules but it's too expensive for my tastes. I can pay a high cost of living in boulder co or san diego Ca, but michigan? nah.

I agree with everything you said. Just a funny but unfortunate coincidence.

oregon is a tough place to live the jobs pay diddley the property taxes are high the state taxes you to death if you work .it used to be nice when there were enough jobs to pay for everything ,now they try to pay for it thru gas tax cigarrette tax car registrations and hunting and fishing liscence .

our houses fell 30% in value but our house taxes all went up anyway the state is broke and refuses to cut pensions and still all the countys and citys keep borrowing federal money for "infrastructure"and driving our property taxes ,water and power ever higher if the rest of america was not just as bad off or worst i would bailout of here .

i live frugal and am allways broke from having to pay for all this crap the politicions keep throwing to their contractor buddys to build and rebuild if i did not save every month for all this extra exspense that keeps getting tacked on to property tax as it comes do i would be homeless instead of half starved by this ripoff system we have here in oregon.

my city has all the road and sewer equipment to do any job and employes to do it yet ever thing is bid to private contractors is everywhere as corrupt as washington D.C. now it sure seems that way .the reason america is broke is because the goverment 's are the main employers now not private bussiness that mostly went to china sorry to carp but i am fed up with all this shit aloha cls

who needs a job when you are growing pot?

yea california sucks...my house dropped 50k in value this year....im surrounded by low class hoodlum ripper trash and crime....im pretty fed up with it here...but im allowed to have a nice sized garden and make good money legally under state law so its a sacrifice....eventually i hope to move out to the country and live in a more peaceful setting.

$10 an hour would be a decent job in michigan, try $7 an hour that min wage and thats what they pay. Forget jobs not being anywhere, make your own job! I will never make another man rich for the rest of my life, this back isn't getting busted unless I choose to bust it for my own advancement.

Yeah, there's jobs around like that. College student type jobs that pay minimum wage or not much over it. It's just the $12-15+/hr jobs that you could actually live a decent life on that are rare as hen's teeth.
