Hydrofarm 6" Inline/Hydro Hut Goblin Carbon Filter

Alright I've looked around and I think I got the best deal I could for the money I got.

From Greners.com I am purchasing a Secret Jardin DR120 II 4x4. I would just like to make sure my Filter/Fan Combo will do the trick. I know my fan will be good but will my Filter?

I am purchasing the 6" Hydrofarm Active Air Inline Fan 400cfm and Hydro Hut's Goblin Carbon Filter, the filter is rated at 285-435 cfm.

Do you think the fan will be to strong for the filter? Anyone with experience with this Carbon Filter?

From what I've read the Golbin Filter will only last about 6 months but that is fine as long as my fan isn't to fast for it. The only reason I'm not getting a better filter for about 50$ extra is the shipping would be 70$ extra so to save 120$.

Is it one of those pleated, tapered filters like automotive? I read they suck on odor absorption.

I checked your filter out, not what I thought. But it states - Optimal CFM Range: 265-350cfm here:

Divide the CFM of the filter by the cubic feet of your tent. You'll get an idea how many times your tent cycles per minute. Generally, the bigger the tent the less cycles necessary to cool, IMO you need 3 x to 5x per minute in a 4 x 4.

If the filter/cycle per minute is sufficient, you can slow your fan with a speed controller (if necessary.)

I'm pretty confident my fan will be sufficent. 4x4x6.5 = 104, so roughly 4 exchanges a minute. I guess if the carbon filter isn't sufficent I can slow it down.

Anyone know of some good online stores? before I place my final order

Sometimes you can google or yahoo a model number and get a Bizrate? comparison. There will be lots of retailers you've never heard of but customers can rate their experience.

Find the best price vs rating and inquire about discreet shipping. If the retailer ships in a brown box that doesn't have the equivalent of BUDSBADASSHYDRO.COM scrawled across it, you're cool.

For example, High Tech Garden Supply ships as HTG Supply. UPS might know you're buying grow gear but I wouldn't worry about neighbors or leo, etc.

Yes I was on plantlightinghydroponics.com they do have awesome prices on the exact fan/filter I want to get but they ship UPS and I live in Canada so USPS is the way to go for me. If I did order from them it would cost me the same thing, I would get the Phat filter, and a Sun Hut however which I don't want to do. Wouldn't mind the Phat Filter, but would prefer the Darkroom DR120 II.

Ill check out this bizrate been searching for a site for a while but can't seem to find any cheaper than Grener's with the products I want.
