Anyone know what kind, and how much green light I can use and not disturb my 12/12 night cycle? I was thinkin fo a mini christmas light set with green tinted clear type bulbs strung around ceiling, 100 of em look kinda bright, but would be nice for checkin on things. What exactly makes the light green? I know a green painted bulb is not green light. thanks for any help.

I just found and joined this site. wow... how long have I been missin out? IC is incredible

Grow shops often sell green compact floros, that would be your best bet. Big box home improvement retailers and hardware stores may have them as well.

I don't like the christmas light idea, they seem to me like they don't completely filter the light like the floros do.

I use the green floros for the drying room and just try to avoid going in the flowering room any more than a couple times a run during the night.

be careful of cheap lights, some are scratched and let enough white light through to stress the plants. That's why the green led's cost so much, because they are worth the cost of not losing a grow to herm's.

how about not using any light during lights off and tend to your plants during lights on.........

I agree.
But we all know that there is that 1 thing that inevitably goes haywire in almost every grow. There are times when a green light is nice so you can change that bulb after lights out because you had company at the worst time.

I got 2 of em for $6 at walmart. Made for just that purpose.

I can't say from personal experience but many people have recently posted about green lights in fact interrupting photoperiod.

I have employed a greenlight in my grow room but hardly ever used it so I can't comment on it interrupting the photoperiod or not. Green light is as far as I know used by photosynthesis so this whole greenlight thing is likely a myth.

i just use a green headlamp and/or a green light fixed to my ear (harbor freight) and try to avoid using them except in an emergency. .....no ill effects

I've used NVG's as well, I've also used the green floros, but as some of you may know, as a room grows with gadgets, so do the lights on those gadgets. My blulab meter, my sentinel, my AC, my controller buckets, my electrical switches all have green status lights...

When I go in there during lights off, I can see everything pretty clearly. My 12/12 cycle has not been effected, and its been like this for a year
