Since I have bought my first vaporizer (vaporstar) a week ago I've been reading about the differences in the high gotten from vapor and smoke. And some people claim that the lack of body stone from vaping is caused by the lack of carbon monoxide and other toxins that are in marijuana smoke, but if that was true than how come after smoking a true sativa people don't have any body stone either? That would lead me thinking that it is more about the abscensce of some of the cannabinoids, for example CBD (also does anybody know the exact vaporization temperature of CBD?).
And why after vaping my eyes are terribly bloodshot even after a tiny bit of herb that I hardly feel?

it is different, and i dont think its just down to Carbon monoxide, i guess the cannabinoids/terpenes all vaporize at different temps so you get a less complete high. also vaping high takes longer to reach it's peak against smoking and you also dont get that 'wince' type hit from coughing/lung expansion when you vape weed.

just had flu so will be vaping for a few days as my chest/lungs wont take the smoke - i'll report back. smoking a joint does certainly give you something that vaping doesnt, but the vaping high is good too

If I remember right it also has to do with the heavy carbons in the lungs causing the release of anti-bodies.

It has a lot todo with the brand of vaporizer and the temperature it's set to. If I set my extreme to it's max temp, the effects are very similar to smoking it.

Besides that, I think of vaping like sipping fine wine or scotch. I feel like smoking is like taking shots of 151. With either method you can reach pretty much the same feeling, but a different speed and intensity getting there.

Without a doubt I feel like smoking ruins the taste of our fine plant. Not as healthy. Also, less efficient. When I hear people say otherwise I just assume they didn't use a good vaporizer and or had their vaporizer at bad settings.

Strain makes a huge difference.

Eating it also produces a different feeling. Personally I eat it in cookies, hard candy, and tincture. I also vape hash (that was made using ever clear). They all produce a slightly different feeling. I like them all depending on the medicate effect I am trying to achieve.

Could You post a pic or describe how the herb looks like after vaping on the max temp setting? Also how does it taste when you vape it?

On the max setting (260C) it looks very similar to when I vape the weed on my favorite setting (215C). Maybe just a little more golden/dark brown.

It tastes great at 260C, again very similar to 215C. Though at 260C, the vapor is thicker and can cause you to cough. For sure each hit is stronger and more intense at 260C. I still rather "sip" my weed at 215C.

Many Vaporizers are fixed at 190C. I have found that at this temperature that I miss many of the medicated affects. I feel that at 215C I miss nothing and have the smoothest and most enjoyable sessions.

My ioLite vaporizer is fixed at 190C. It works, but it's nothing compared to my Extreme. Also, at 190C the weed gets that popcorn taste really fast and the bowl is cached fast as well. It's just not as efficient. At 215C the taste is great much longer, and the weed lasts longer (more efficient).

I've got an ExtremeQ too...always run it at max+1 more "up". If I don't, I don't feel high. It's STILL not as "good" as smoking...but better on the lungs for sure. In fact, I only use it about once a week when my lungs get shot from smoking. Sure, it TASTES great...but it just doesn't "buzz me" enough.

no pictures...it just turns brown...like brown bag weed. and smells funny...like raisins.

I'd say there are things that effect the high that don't vaporize until the buds flash point...ya gotta actually burn it to get it. That's my guess.

To each their own I say.

For me, I think Vaping sucks. I suppose, in part, it is because I have been smoking for so long that I have certain expectations. I expect to cough sometimes. Hell, I've grown to enjoy the cough. I like the taste from a joint and the way it feels in my lungs.

Granted, I'm doing terrible damage to my lungs, compared to those vaping. But I don't give a shit. I don't expect to live forever and I intend to enjoy life while I am here. :)

Peace!

You have to get that thing dialed in Brother.I got my Extreme Q a week or so ago and it took a couple days to find what temperature was "right" for me.This thing kicks the shit out of me every day,I fill one bag and get about half way through it and I am fucking ripped.Don't miss traditional smoking at all.

One word- VOLCANO

EDIT: Please don't vote if your using an $80 vaporizer. There is no comparison.

I agree. Most people who don't like vaping have used a shitty vaporizer. I personally feel the extreme is superior to the volcano because of the whip. Though, to each his own.

I have met a few people who have told me they don't feel high unless the cough hard after a toke, and only like to smoke. To each their own.

I agree, but the bitch about is that if you do not know someone who already owns a decent vape and lets you try it to see if you like it,it's a hard choice to spend two hundred + for something you may not like.I personally love my Q.I Started out making The light bulb "vape" because it was free and would give me a small idea of what I would be getting into.Hell I liked the bulb, thats why I bought my Q. Just my opinion :)

I definitely notice a difference, on top of getting baked extremely fast. I would prefer using a vape any day :) wish I had one.

fuckin hate vapes......the only thing that gives me satisfaction is a nice bong hit out of a glass on glass roor full of ice cubes...perfect high, perfect everything...

vape is cool but i hate the taste...even out of a volcano it all tastes the same. in order to get my lemon kushy smack in the face i need to use the bong...

Bong lover here too, but have not tried any decent vapes, because no one owns them here. Just those lightbulb DIY's, which sucked long time. Never been coughing so much when using that. You rarely cough after nicely balanced bong load with tobacco. :)

I know it is not healthy though.

I am team vape, but I understand we all have different opinions. I don't try to convert anyone, but I do offer them a bag when they are in my home. I must say I haven't had one complaint, but I do get a request everytime I am invited to a friends house. It goes like this, "can you bring the device (code word for volcano)?"

Its like sex really, its good for everyone, but we all have our favorite way of getting to the finish line.

When you smoke, the tip of the joint is burning and destroying all the cannabinoids and leaf matter on that end, creating smoke. When you pull, the hot air (smoke, actually) from the tip of the joint is vaporizing the rest of the joint and that's what you're inhaling, along with the smoke from the burning tip.

When you vaporize, the temperature is much lower than the burning tip of a joint, and so not all the cannabinoids get vaporized.

THC - 157C
CBD - 180C
CBN and the other 80+ cannabinoids - dunno the temp

So if you're vaporizing only to let the THC come off the bud (not reaching 180C), you're going to have a high-THC high with little to no CBD. This is similar to the high the OP described. It's not very pleasant in that it's terrifying to some people, causes rapid heart beat (causes red eyes), anxiety and results in short term memory loss.

It's very similar to smoking JWH-018 or using Marinol. If you vaporize for a little longer and/or raise the temp, the high should be mellower, comparable to smoking.

As for taste, you'd have to have a pretty messed up palate to not be able to taste vaporized bud. Smoking destroys a lot of the taste in the first few hits because the terpentines vaporize early (if you're not the first 1-2 people in the circle, you're probably tasting mostly smoke) and smoke in general desensitizes your taste buds. Vaporizing tastes like the plant's aroma while it was growing. Very pungent and aromatic. To each his own. I personally like the taste of smoke and the smell of "nicotine stains on my fingers."

I personally don't like the volcano. It's a very well built machine, and if I had one I'd use it, but it has too many parts, the bag sometimes requires changing, and the machine overall requires far too much work to use with a lot of frequency. I also don't like that the hits are diluted. You should at least be able to adjust air flow to coincidentally adjust dilution of the vape in the bag.

At home I primarily vape because the smell doesn't linger (even if it did, most people can't make it out. they're only accustomed to the smell of weed AND smoke together,) and with the amount of weed I smoke I'd be doing serious damage to my lungs if all my intake came from joints/blunts.

It's convenient. I turn the vape on high then open a jar of weed. I take a bud out, grind it on my table, and then "suck" it into the vap whip (vapebros) and lower to desired temp and take hits. It's hands-free and feels like a hookah.

Smoking may or may not make you cool but it certainly makes you feel cool. The act of smoking itself—rolling, lighting, inhaling, holding, exhaling rings—releases dopamine (esp if you're addicted to nicotine) and gives one a biochemical confidence that manifests itself physically with swagger. Again, it may all be in your head, but does that matter?

i have da buddha and love it, really brings out taste and flavor, and the best part for me is i dont get anxiety when i vape. smoking gets me too high, vaping leaves me medicatyed and manageable with great taste and flavor.

i was talkin about vapes at my local club and this guy says "vapes turn your lungs into pussies"
