a home meade grow cab can be cheap and effective... You can get a 250 watt hps for under a hundred bucks...and a stanley blower from your local hardware store for $50.... alot cheaper than buying a pre made cabinet for $500+ ... that's just my $0.02 ..good luck and be safe!

After reading back, I agree with Durka... those boxes are pieces of shit and you cant run anything other than 3 or 4 cfl's in them without the cab over heating....

Yeah, your'e all right, they are overpriced and not as efficient as possible.

But what those Bloomboxes DO have is the ease of use, it's just to wait for the postman and then get going. That's a somewhat attractive idea for an amateur.

But after reading up it seems as tents would be the best idea, easier than building a box, and would most probably yield more.

But the stealth thing have come up as an interesting thing, if it could be stealthy enough it could actually be inside the house without my wife's knowledge. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the cheating kind of guy, but my feelings for this perticular plant is deep and sincere.

Anyway, even if I get building I can't start growing in the near future. But it will feel good to have the grow box ready for the future.

Take a look at my cabinet in my signature. I would be willing to send you the sketch-up drawings and then you and your handy man could take the dimension right off of the drawings and have one build for your yourself.

I have 6 cabs now, all self built from plans I developed, which I still have. I have dimensional and spatial drawings in PDF format for each phase of design. As far as build time, including cutting lengths of wood, the cabs took me about 4 1/2 hours to build (ALONE) not including painting. I use only screws, hex head screws and a 26Volt cordless drill. I cut 6" holes for the exhaust with a corded-heavy duty drill (that I rented) and the hole for the reflector socket cord and extension cord (and temp sensor) is visible in the photo below, it's a small square hole that is plugged once all cables are in place with a removable caulk.

I have several sizes, but my favorites are 6.14 square feet, lit with one 600 3K Halide in an aircooled reflector connected to a 450CFM inline fan. The quality of the finished product is outstanding, each cab is air tight with the exception of the exhaust, which is filtered.

Here is the cab just built and painted:

Here is a one plant grow in a 4 square foot cab:

And here are some plant shots that I've grown in the cabs:

Anyways, cabs are a great way to grow big buds in small spaces with little or no noise or light pollution. So many problems are avoided by using small, totally controlled environments . . .

Ventilation, lighting, and using your space efficiently really are the keys, and in my experience I always yield the best using a screen.

Hope that helps!

It's been two weeks of intensive reading, and I just thought I'd mention Dr. BudGreengenes's CFL sog grow. He has had tremendous success with perpetual harvest in a redicilous 60 cm high and 2 square feet growroom. 4 clones x 9 (weeks) under a few CFL's . The plants yielded from 7-21 grams dry, wich is to be multiplied with 4x9, (with just a few CFL's).

For all of you who don't believe it, read his threads.

That made me think twice about SOG's and I will try that when my cab is up and running.

He never actually showed pictures with a final yield or a full cab or anything like that, did he? I don't think so.

Don't believe everything you read.

Don't believe everything you read.

Or everything you see..These forums are full of myths and false information as well.. I have personally seen threads that are false as hell and people are still claiming a its a goldmine..Stick to the basics and the rest with fall into place with time..

Rysam: Nice, I like that fridge-thing. Good for stealth.

Purple Monster: There's enough pictures there to believe it, and people there have tried the method and posted back to the thread that it's working. I believe him.

N'Kata: Yeah, I've also read myths and false information and stuff like that. But this perticuler thread have gotten my "PLAUSIBLE" stamp. I'll try it!

Tokatronic..believe it. I run a Dr bud sog and get 7g/cut out of it regularly. Record to date is 14g dry. Sometimes they are only 4. It took almost a year to get it to that point. For the first 6mo or so they averaged 3-5 per cut. i"m running 7 x42w 2700k in 2.7 ft. All organic.
