DIY mini split a/c 1 ton that will run on 120v 15 amp

I see some companies offering "DIY" 1 ton mini splits that can be run on a 120v 15amp circuit.

Excel air offers one meant for 3000w of lighting and its very expensive at $2500-$2800. There is a cheaper offering from Sunlight Supply for $1500-$1800 and it is identical in btu specs. I'm sure there are many non-hydroponic oriented brands that are similar and cheaper .

Has anyone used these? Experiences?

You have to be insane to pay the price Excel air is charging.
The Sunlight Supply model is the exact same thing.
That said, buying a mini split is like buying anything else; you get what you pay for.
Unfortunately, none of the top brands (Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Lg, Sanyo, Friedrich) make a true diy kit like the one Excel and SS are offering.
If your only option is a true diy (I emphasize the word true because some companies advertise their mini split as diy but in fact you still need to vacuum the line set) then the SS model is your cheapest/best choice.
Here's another true diy model;

excel is a rip off...like bose....tons of money at marketing while pushing a mediocre product....you are just paying for the dumb name

watercooling is awesome and very often over looked. mini splits, ductless splits lack airflow

Any HVAC company can make your ductless split DIY, just ask them to install brass quick connects and vacc down the lines and add any refrigerant if necessary. ITS JUST THAT EASY

You dont have to go to a pot/hydro store supplier to get cooling.

How does that make it a diy system? If you disconnect the line set to move the unit then you need a tech to come back and vacuum the line set again. Thats not a true diy system. A true diy system has couplers on the ends of the line set that seal the line set when it is not snapped into the couplers on the outdoor unit. You can remove and reattech the line set without the need for vacuuming. I help a friend install one.
Excel is a complete rip off, but their are other companies making the same true diy system.
And why would you need brass disconnects when the line sets come pre flared with fittings installed?
The whole point of a true diy system is not needing a tech to do anything.
