Magic mushrooms banned from December

Magic mushrooms banned from December
Friday 07 November 2008

The ban on the sale of fresh hallucinogenic mushrooms in Holland is set to come in on December 1, the AD newspaper reports on Friday.

The paper says ministers are expected to vote in favour of the plan at today’s cabinet meeting.

The sale of dry mushrooms in so-called smart shops is already banned.

Health minister Ab Klink said last year he planned to ban mushroom sales following a string of incidents involving tourists.

According to Amsterdam health service figures, ambulances were called out 128 times last year to deal with people who had eaten hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Truffles (Incl. Philosphers stones) are definitely worth a try, + they are legal and widely available (not in every single coffee shop though). A coffee shop lady told me they are "less visual" than mushrooms, but oh well.

LAION: Howcome?

I enjoyed them very much, the one time I did try them. Well, tbh I've tried them twice, but the first time I ate them fresh and threw up without much effect taking place. Then I made a tea out of it and it was a VERY nice tingly body high, and I was much gigglier than I am on weed.

Wow. Fucking tourists can't handle mushrooms so the country has to make them illegal lol. Its okay people, its just psychedelics.

Great news about the Philosophers Stone being legal still, they are my fave mushrooms, going to try to track down a grow kit now I think about it.

So how many times did ambulances get called to alcohol related issues last year? If its more then 128 why isn't alcohol placed under prohibition again?

it's too bad that out of everything you can do in the Dam that people would consider wondering around the red light district messed up to be "the Amsterdam experience".

it's kind of sad that you are missing out on all the rest.

What is the Amsterdam experience then if a big part of it is not drugs and the redlight district?

Btw ive seen quite alot of Holland on my dozens of trips there since the first time i went over 10 years ago.

I've bought & grown truffles and they are waste of time and money imo.

Then you've probably done something wrong, unless you are of the opinion that shrooms are also a waste of time and money, or have a particularly strange fondness for the very taste and texture of the fungi?

Truffles contain exactly the same active ingredients as mushrooms, and anyone telling you "they're more mellow" or that "the trip is less visual but more giggly" is full of shit (although believing that the trip is more giggly will probably make it a little more giggly). It's all psilocin and psilocybin, doesn't really matter whether it comes from a mushroom or a truffle.

I have eaten both on various occasions and haven't found any difference between tripping on mushrooms and truffles (although obviously, no two trips are the same). Mushrooms are usually a little more potent in my experience, so you need to eat less, but truffles don't taste as nasty on the way in. It's a trade-off; truffles are less nauseating to eat, but at least I found they cause longer-lasting nausea at the bottom of my stomach than mushrooms.

Would-be-visitors to Amsterdam: don't be discouraged; the weed pass is not coming and truffles are readily available (and you can still get mushrooms under the counter by asking).

I grew shrooms for many years and while they are all the same chemical, every shroom strain was a completely different high. From South Americans amazing body high and visuals to Ecuador's incredibly CLEAR high no matter how much you ate with very slight visuals.

I'd never eat more than a gram and half of good South Americans in public, but I'd eat EQ's any day. I grew and became very acquainted with over 30 strains and there are extreme difference between many of them including 'giggling'.

Some shrooms 100% made you laugh your ass off much more. Some of the happiest times I have ever had. Only time a trip was messed up was result of some idiot.

Just a couple examples of many...

PS Blue meanies from the Florida fields were the funniest and some of the strongest fuckin shrooms I enjoyed. Happy trippin.

Of course there are differences in the respective ratios between different mushrooms species/strains, but the same holds true for different truffle strains. Some truffles can be more "giggly" than mushrooms, and vice versa.
To claim that truffles, across the board, are more or less something than mushrooms in terms of effects, is akin to saying "bud produces a more stoney high than hashish" IMO. It depends on both the bud and the hash - if you've got indica weed and hash made from a sativa, then sure.

The strongest shrooms I've ever had were probably liberty caps (psilocybe semilanceata) from northern Finland... Much 'deeper' than any cubensis or other strain I've tried, despite not being nearly as visual! Much more introspective than even LSD.
