powdery mildew

Sulfur burning is a great preventative, but I do not know of many people who claim to have "cured" powder mildew that late in the cycle. Once the pathogen is in the plant, you are only seeing the fruiting bodies, and it is still in there.

I have only cured mildew with compost tea, and that was early in the greenhouse season.
Spraying late in the cycle will only encourage botrytis.
Some folks claim that spraying with peroxide helps but I cannot verify that.
Let us know how it works out for you...

Burning the sulfur pot before you have powdery mildew will prevent it from happening. As for what to do now I cannot recommend anything other than more sulfur burning. I'm sure someone else will chime in with some info. Good luck.

sorry to hear about your PM issues... i have been told you shouldn't burn with less then four weeks to go.. i have never burned late in flower though.
burning in veg and again when you flip is something to keep in mind for your next run.

good luck

powdery mildew

I did a little recon and found what's what on late stage PM. The product is by That Stuff and its called PM Wash. 30bucks a gallon so I sprayed it all on those powedery little bastards. All looks ok so far. I'm gonna crain my system and fill it back up adding some Clear X from Bontonicare. I'll let you all know how it goes. And thanks for the effort.

wow, that PM wash looks like a great product.

the problem ive found spraying plants down with various products late in flower is that they usually require a period of time before chopping, like "do not spray for 10 days before harvest." i could always hold down PM for a few days, but not 10.

this PM Wash says you can use it on the day of harvest. COOL!

let us know how this works out, lotto.

I've treated mildew up thru 4 weeks of flower. No problem. I use a real fungicide (Bayleton) that is registered on tomatoes and such. I wet everything, stems, tops and bottoms of leaves and flowers. As long as you have good air movement, no worries with rot.

Organic farmers use "Serenade MAX" up to and including the day of harvest on fruits and vegetables. It is registered for that use.

In the future, if you continue to fight PM grow after grow, consider buying a proper fungicide (Elite, Flint, Pristine, Bayleton or Eagle). I use them as needed in rotation in veg a day or 2 before I move the plants to flower and never have a problem.

Crop turned out suspect. All the leaves on about half the plants died within four days. Oh well cut it down, gonna make some bouble hash.
