cats and parasites/bugs

supposedly our cats have something going on with some bugs or parasites. It seems to be something on their skin, not worms. We have washed them with some special shampoo every 3-4 days for a couple weeks with no luck.

Called the vet and they said to bring the cats in to get a shot, then have an exterminator treat the house while the cats stayed at the vet.

uh-oh.

Vet asked if we had any plants cause these parasites can come from plants and/or soil. I was not really going to ask what if I have plants in a hydro setup with no soil.

Grow is in master bedroom, no carpet. Cats dont go in there.

So what can I fumigate the house with to kill these fucking parasites w/o a visit from the exterminator?

i dont know what kind, we never got a scientific name, just parasites. We are going to call some exterminators tomorrow and see what they, then maybe call the vet back for some detailed info

Call the vet to get more information and then you can do a google search on it to see if and how you can remedy the issue. Vets charge killer prices so if you can do something yourself that would be better.. ;)

Also I highly doubt it coming from the plants unless any soils you brought in have been contaminated. You stated coco/hydro that should be clean. If not you would also be saying you have gnats/rot/something bad in the grow.

get rid of the cat, i had nothin but problems when i had mine, she left on her own, since then no more problems, no chemicals either they just left, only thing that changed in room, no cat in the house. my two cents

lol cats arent mine, not my choice. I had another grow larger than this with one of the cats and never had problems. That grow was a little more isolated in the basement.

We are going to make some calls today to see if we can get specifics

I did have a spider mite issue, and do have a very minor gnat issue. A few rounds of floramite and azamax dealt with the mites and gnats. I keep a mosquito dunk in the rez to keep gnats in check.

I think washing everything in the house and cleaning the carpets will help. Plus some foggers/bombs

Feed the cat food grade diatomaceus earth sprinkled on their food. You can also dust the cat with it. It will mechanically kill any type of parasite internal and external. Also rich in silica and many trace minerals, good all around.good for humans too and cheap!

If the main ingredient in the dunks is b.t like I think , its a gene toxin added to gmo crops to make them bug resistant, I don't fuck w/that

 LOL - ever tried to get a cat to eat something that they don't want to?

I'm sure that there's an easily administered (I'm thinking drops on the nape of the neck type thing) remedy, available in the high street.

The vet's probably being vague so that you have to come back and spend big bucks rather than a diy solution.

easy to make you laugh huh
I'm actually trying to help and can recommend this w/ no doubt that it will work
It can be mixed in cat food and has no taste whatsoever the cat will never know
D.E is actually an ingredient in high end animal food
It is mild and effective while parasite treatments from the vet have harmful side effects, this has positive side effects

I will also recommend the diatomaceous earth (food grade).

Its safe for treating animal parasites and also safe for sprinkling around the house.

If you use foggers, make sure you use the appropriate amounts. The package will give you a cubic feet application rate, volume of indoor airspace. And try to get a pure pyrethrum fogger, not the chemical copycats with additives. Pyrethrum breaks down in 2 hours, whereas some of the chemical copycats and additives do not.

Vet- I'm not sure what your cat has but you should get an exterminator and a shot.
Ic Member - I don't know what your plant has but you should give your plants physan 20.

Just because they went to school for a while and have a white coat does not mean that they are intelligent or educated. It means they went to school for a while and have a white coat. Find a better better vet. One that can identify and treat the cause just like we do to our plants. One that understands logical thought process. Not all parisites are the same, just like vets.

Did I question the efficacy of d.e?

I merely stated my observation that cats are really fussy eaters so please don't be so ready to take umbrage.

Just ask the vet what parasite it is. Tell him/her that you would like to find an alternative to a chemical extermination in your home.
