What's new

So a fly or thrip or something came out of my dried bud today...

This is going to sound insane, but I cracked open a bud I've been keeping in vacuum-sealed storage for a few months and guess what came out? A tiny black fly.

The thing came flopping out of the hand-ground bud. It bounced around for a while before I killed it and examined it. It was a tiny black fly - maybe a fungus gnat, but likely also a thrip (I had a previous infestation). Weirdest shit I've ever seen. It's very unlikely it came from elsewhere in my house as it's winter out and we keep our room temps on the lower side.

Am I crazy?

lol @ the video. Does that container have any more problems? Hopefully it didnt have friends or lay eggs for other ones. It could have been a egg that popped or a gnat you trapped while bagging?

A threat of infestation is not really a worry. I have a virus from said thrips infection so I'm blowing out my mom plants and then running freebies until I move from my current residence (only a few more months). Then I'll build an entirely new cab setup.

I didn't smoke it. I seriously thought about it.

so let me get this straight; some poor little fly manages to survive 3+ months in a vacuum sealed bud (shallow breathing technique?) and when finally released and dancing its freedom dance you kill it???

ho ho ho merry christmas.......

For thrips? I say genocide.

EDIT: On further investigation, I think it was a fungus gnat. Still, genocide.

S4L.. That was a Seal Team 6 fly. Trained to survive in inhospitable environments for months at a time. This one must have graduated at the top of his class. 3+ months of no air is hooah hardcore.

OP, you didn't eat the green acid before you busted open your bag of green did you?

You are lucky that you caught it and killed it when you did...

That wasn't a bug, it was actually one of those new secret weapons that LEO and DEA are using to bust indoor grow ops.
Those things are microchip machines called a cannabis patrol unit (or a CPU) that are programmed like homing pigeons and are sent out by LEO a week or so before harvest time. Once a grow is located the CPU will burrow into the biggest, frostiest bud and go dormant until the moisture levels of the bud drops to below 50%. Then wait until the THC is cured just perfect. When released into an oxygen rich environment (ORE) again they return back to the cop-shop (code named pig pen) with GPS coordinates it has stored from the original grow op and exactly where it last sampled air with higher concentrations of THC.

They even leave microscopic remote homing beacons (or RHB's) so that LEO can follow your stash no matter where you try and hide it.

There are only 3 known methods of eradicating em also.
1.) The weed must be exposed to extreme heat asap in order to assure that the nuclear power plant of the RHB melts down.

2.) Send all your weed to an authorized CPU neutralization facility for detection and elimination of any CPU's. (BTW: I happen to be one of them there authorized CPU neutralization facilities and would consider offering a discount for all ICM members. Instead of the usual 50% I would go 60% for ICM members).

3.) Send all of your bud to Iraq. They will remove the CPU and extract the uranium to power SCUD missiles.

Hey Funkervogt.

A few years ago i had some outdoor that was almost unsmokeable. It was so harsh that you couldnt enjoy the buzz and you had goo all over your lips and teeth after smoking the nasty stuff. A buddy of mine that is an obsessed naturalist, insisted that all weed is nasty and dangerous and should be "washed". He took a bud from my weed and gave it to his wife who is a lab worker for the Dept. of Ag. She analyized the bud and found:

6, tiny little black hardselled bugs
Tiny caterpillar larve and skins
several different types of "eggs"
numerous bug body parts,(legs, wings,etc)
22 different chemicals, many pollutants that had settled on the plants. Sulpher, cianide, carbon,

The bud had 1 form of mould and 2 differnet funguses on it.

Much dust, bird poop, bug puke and the list went on and on and on of nasty ingredients bieng dumped into the grinder and toked up.

He was right. I soaked the cured bud gently in tepid water for 15 minutes. The water turned brown and nasty and the smoke when redried was as smooth as silk and lacked the bug puke and bird shit that alll outdoor bud has in it. Indoor might be a little better, but you would be shocked to see that bud magnified 100 times..

You may want to be a bit careful! I've seen this before. A fly has "RIGHTS". Now if you disbelieve this BS then I suggest you take it up with the HSUS or even better PETA. If you turn yourself in now.......you may be OK. Just my 3 cents. One cannot be too careful these days.
