hey fellow hydro growers out there. need some advice on why my plants are doing a certain thing. when i switch my plants from veg to flower and then switch the nutes for some reason my plants exhibit some sort of deficiency. i have the ph around 5.8, ec at around 1000-1200. using maxibloom for nutes and plain tap water that has been bubbled for a few days. they perk up a week to two weeks later but i've been wondering why they do that. any thoughts?

no way to tell without pics. there are about a gazillion deficiences and most of them have or can have different causes

true, just was wondering if maybe i need to use transition nutes? thought maybe the plants are stressing from switching from veg to flower and need something from both the veg nutes and flower nutes?

like i said they recover a week to week and half on real time and don't have any problems after. right now the leaf stems are reddish and the bottom leaves botchy, flushing right now and will be putting in new nutes tomorrow. new growth is green and good though.

The first two weeks of flowering are essentially still vegetative growth - I personally start using bloom boosters during the 2nd week of flowering.

IMO, you are switching to early. I continue the use of veg nutes normally till around day 14 of flower. During the stretch the plants use an increased amount of nitrogen to produce the vigorous growth. Also when I switch over I slowly build up the nutrients peaking around week 5.

Without pics or better decriptions there is no exact answer. Go to the cannibis infirmary, fill out the form, and seek advice. Also for future reference speak in terms of EC, I have no idea what conversion your ppm meter is. Or include the ppm conversion.

thanks pureknowledge and everyone else i do believe i must be switching the nutes to early. oh pureknowledge i was speaking in ec. i keep it around 1000 ec until a couple of weeks in and then switch to 1200 to 1300 ec. thanks!

ec. i keep it around 1000 ec until a couple of weeks in and then switch to 1200 to 1300 ec.

These are not EC numbers.. you are quoting PPM numbers at either x500 or x700 depending on your meter. What meter do you have?

ok sorry 1.0 to 1.4, those are the numbers. i have a hannah meter that switches from ph to ec to ppm. the ec says 1000 and when i put in ppm mode is says 700ish. it doesn't give me .something number.

Oh ok... your meter must measure in µS/cm instead of mS/cm. Dividing the EC value on your meter by 1000 will give you the decimal EC value that most of us are used to seeing.

right now the leaf stems are reddish and the bottom leaves botchy,
I wouldn't worry much about this unless it gets worse but that's just me.

You might just not be feeding them enough.

The strength of the nutrient solution depends on a lot of things, but for decent sized plants under good lighting, people often feed at up to EC 2.0 (or 2000 if you wanna call it that).

Pics would make a huge difference :)
