Pronounced preflowering in 24/0

I have two strains that are showing very pronounced preflowering in 24/0. I have not completed a flowering space and am not ready to flower. I am vegging all my mothers together in the same space under cfls. They are overgrowing my space and lighting. I was wondering if lack of light under 24 hours of lights on would cause a plant to preflower instead of grow vegetatively. Perhaps rootbound my be an issue as well, but i just don't have the space yet to transplant to larger pots. It isn't strain specific because it is happening to two strains. They have been rotated around, but I suspect the lack of light to be the culprit. They are not autoflowering strains, and have been vegging for over two months from rooted clones. Can someone please chime in on my issue and either confirm or deny my suspicions. I can provide pics, but I have enough experience to know this is not normal preflowering for a vegetatative state. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, NW

Some do that...show lots of really nice preflowers. Some don't. It's not a problem.

They are flowering JUST at the branch junction? Not in the tips...right? If the tips are flowering you got autos or your lights aren't really on 24/0...IMO.

If they are indeed just pre-flowers and not at the tip of branches as ibjamming said then in my experience they are just showing maturity. All of my grows have shown that, it lets me know when to switch to 12/12.

I too have had a couple strains that do this, AK among them. Lots of preflowers in the vegetative state, but not autoflowering. In my experience plants that do this seem to respond faster to the switch to 12/12 and can sometimes fatten up and finish faster.

Either way, as long as she's still growing vertically with leaves at the tops of the nodes, not buds, like ibjamming said, you're golden.

Enjoy your grow!

What size pot are they in? I'm strongly suspecting that they are root bound causing stress that is resulting in the preflowers you're seeing. It happens. I've kept many moms under 18/6 hours of light with no problems. As soon as they become root bound, if i don't trim the root ball in time and repot them, some will start to preflower.

The preflowers are at the tips in various degrees of severity. They are not autos I am sure because two completely different strains are doing this, one strain to a much lesser degree. I know they are root bound for a fact, but I just don't have he space yet to repot. I am in the process of upgrading. But yes, my lights are on 24/0. the coverage is being overgrown and giving little light to some, but I rotate my strains as I see fit. Will a repot and firing up my 400 watt cmh help regrow vegetative leaves at the tips by any chance? I hope this will remedy my problem. I have about 20 different strains, 1 of each being mothered and only two are doing this. They have been vegged for quite a while, but I know for fact that they are both not autos. So can the preflowering at the tips be remedied? Thanks for all the help and feed back everyone. These particular strains are very rare and precious to me.

Agreed. I have seen this with root bound plants. Try repotting them into a larger container possibly.

Thanks guys, this strains is absolutely irreplacable. I will show some pics if you like. It is a true blackberry kush unhybridized for 20+ years

:wave:Pics never hurt anyone. Would love to see this 20yr blackberry!
Good luck on the repot remedy:tiphat:

Here she is as of today. This one of four others is the most pronounced. If anyone is familiar with this clone, I would like some more background on it. 20 years ago, I don't think I knew what cannabis even looked like. If I was misinformed, I humbly stand corrected, but my sources are pretty reliable. Enough talk, enjoy the pics.

The 5th pic is to show the size of her. I know I need to repot, Just need more room! Plant was trained to encourage secondary growth, otherwise like a kush it would have lanky shoots that would just bend under any weight. Pinching and bending was used to accomplish this. She would be quite tall if left untrained. She drinks like mad and could use a little N boost. Thanks all for your help once again. Pics are the least I could do for the advice. later, NW.

I got some great strains of males coming up and I will find a keeper Male. In breading, what could be more reliable than a proven male to breed with on anything including rare cuts and then most likely s good F and M will cut out so much guess work and having to finding more males having to keep half a dozen to find one? I can get a rare clone-only all over he place, but who keeps a keeper male cut for the best of possible crosses. I am finding one. Thanks, NW

I don't believe this is a kush at all. The growth characteristics are like the regular blackberry, but not %100 indica most positively sure. I Let the clone be tried by one other and am waiting for his results. Thanks everyone, and I will post any updates on this clone.
