about to put some plants into flower in a dwc system, my question is when do i switch to the flowering nutes ? right when i put them into flower? before? a week after? a couple days after? what do most people do?
you guys run veg nutes that long?
soo if im running advanced sensi grow/bloom a and b slowely add the bloom in? like 300 ppm of veg and 300 ppms of bloom?
i waS told dont add any more veg nutes once you go 12/12 and first sign of flower add the bloom nutes useually all veg nutes are used by then it worked for me but there might be a better way im still quite new myself only on my 3rd grow but hope it helps cheers easy
veg nutes usually contain more N, which is responsible for growth. too much N will lead to too much vertical growth and too much foliage though without the plant really becoming bushy and strong
also, too much N delays and hinders flowering.. most people here dont seem to realize this, if i look at most grows here and see high ECs and plants that have a very dark green
just give them a normal dosage of EC 1.0 to 1.8, depending on the base EC (the EC of your water), you cant really improve upon that. you can only maximize growth by keeping your plants as healthy as possible and use a growing medium that promotes healthy root growth
I start throwing in bloom nutes after the first week but I mix it.. If I was putting 400ml of veg nutes, once week 2 starts I'll put 300 of veg and 100 of bloom and taper it as I go..
I do have some strains I wouldn't mind making them stretch in the first 2 weeks tho lol
Here's how I do it. I got this from the GH feeding charts I think.
veg: 100% veg nutes
induce 12/12: 50% veg nutes 50% flower nutes until stretch ends. Usually that's 2 weeks. I do a res change every 2-3 weeks so I take this opportunity to switch to all flower nutes.
weeks 2-3 -> harvest: 100% flower nutes
I use MaxiGro and MaxiBloom, and 10ml/gal calmag every res change.
BTW we keep saying stretch is 2 weeks but stretch is dependent on strain. The only thing we know is that stretch comprises 40% of entire flowering cycle. So by figuring out the exact day stretch ends for your strain, you will know chop day. In a 10 week strain, if stretch ends on week 4, then you have 6 weeks left till harvest.
Most standard bloom nutes have enough N in it for the beginning of flowering, then a couple weeks into flowering you lower the bloom nutes a little and supplement bloom boosters which will add in more P and K
Sensi Bloom has a fair bit of N. I flipped about 2 weeks ago, and just switched from Sensi Grow to Bloom. I wish I'd switched nutes when I flipped the lights. Instead I got tons of stretch and a pretty lame deficiency that ate up most of my lower leaves.
