Anyone tried Excellofizz to produce CO2?

Excellofizz, another product hailing from British Columbia, comes in large (113 grams) tablet form. When added to a bit of water it produces CO2 - one tab is enough to raise CO2 levels by 1600ppm for a 12x12 space.

I thought I'd try this out and just received my order from bghydro.com. My garden space is about half that size, so I'm going to cut one of the tabs in half and give it a go this week.

Since there's a wealth of good growing experience and wisdom on these boards, I'm wondering if anyone has feedback or recommendations on this product?

Muchos gracias!

Peace and good vibes~

Hi amsterdame! Last year i was working in a grow shop in montreal. Me and some friends try the excellofizz. We get the same amount of ppm but for a very short time. For us a 12 x 12 room is much to big for one puck. You could put a full puck in your 6 x 6 room with a small fan to move the CO2 around the plant. :p

Thanks for the feedback, badbrunn. I'll try it and see what happens. And welcome to IC! Hope you have a pleasant stay here.

Anyone else have experience with this product?

Good for a small space.

Good for a small space.

I tried it a couple years back. It is not very consistent and does not last long at all. Plants suck up CO2 so fast anyways. The result was minimal since you need a constant supply.

Be sure you shut down the ventilation system when using it, or it will just be sucked out of the growspace as fast as it is being delivered. Also you cant sustain it long enough since you only get like 16 tabs right? In the long run your better off just getting a controler and and CO2 tank.

I would say use it in the middle of flowering or towards the end so the plant really has the energy to pack on the buds at the end. If possible apply it right when the lights turn on or right before.

Hi beans!

How are ya tonight?

$20 cheaper?? shit! I got the 15 puck count. Tell me the $20 cheaper was at least for the 50 count!

Yeah Blatant, I'll probably use this during the last couple weeks of flowering.

I went for it today and shut down the vent fan and kept the oscillating fan on. Hung the container up high so the CO2 would flow down onto the plants. The recommendations are to apply after the lights have been on for at least an hour so the stomata are fully opened for maximum gas absorbtion.

I'll probably invest in a CO2 generator sometime in the future. Bubblebags are tops on my "accoutrements" wish list. Once I get those I'll re-consider the CO2 set up.

Thanks guys!

Sweetie's calling me to meet him at the vaporizer.... catcha ya later! ;)

Amsterdame: IMO Excellofizz is a lot of money for CO2...better bet cost wise using dry ice from Baskin Robbins ( about 1 lb per day in 10 x 10 sealed area) Also good (if you can be there for safety) is to burn a kerosene lamp w wick well trimmed, or a small (like coleman) propane heater for indoors. (Use caution w open flame for CO2, dont want to burn down house.) Another cheap way is fermentation. Wait til about an hour AFTER lights on so stomata on leaves fully open to make use of CO2 supp. Just my .02
Best of luck. Ursa

Hi ursa, I've pondered those low-tech solutions, and of the 3, the dry ice would be best for my situation. Wow, that's a trip you can get it from Baskin Robbins. I can't imagine you order it over the counter, or do you??

Thanks for the input!

Peace and good vibes~

i have been using for about 5 days now and dont see any diff. i think $60 wasted. i had to turn off the exhaust fans and it got too hot. i think any benefits would be far outweighed by damage of the excess heat. i have half left. i am using with the exhaust fans on, which are in the ceiling, so hopefully most is staying in the room now. i keep the doors shut with all fans on. i check on them in about two hours and see if they are hot. then i open doors if they are. i checked on them after about 5 hours and the pucks were all used up.
it is also a pain to keep cleaning out the bucket you use. i pity the poor fool that pours this shit down their house's drains!!!
