If i have some cannabutter in a tuperware in the fridge, about how long will it stay good for?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I keep it in the freezer. It can be cut with a knife and won't go bad on you.

i know how to store it, but i've had some in a tuperware in the fridge for months that i forgot about and am wondering if i should just throw it out, or if it might still be good?

If butter has been kept under refrigeration, and there is no visible signs of melting or discoloration, should still be good for at least 5 to 6 months. But a taste test can always tell. If rancid, there is a sour smell in butter and the taste is strong and unusual.

ps... i just google "will butter go bad" to get that info

thanks gohstly. yea i looked at the expiration date on some butter in my fridge and it was around 5 months, so i think the butter is still good. the color is the same but the smell is completely different (though it doesn't smell sour). i'm just going to whip up some goodies and see..
 
How did they turn out? The butter was frozen for the entire 5 months? For personal use i'm pretty flexible on what I'll tolerate, but in accepting donations I want to make sure I'm giving from a fresh batch. I don't think I've had enough extra where it would sit around for that long but curious if that worked for your treats.

I prefer to just go with oils because they have such a longer shelf life and are more versatile in both recipies as well as cooking temperatures it can withstand, easier to ship (won't go bad w/o refridgeration) and non dairy since I have so many vegan friends.

Keep in mind that it may also depend on the quality of your tupperware... I used ziplock cups with screw on lids for the last batch of butter I made and it stored really well. They are made for "canning" use and intended to withstand the freezer scene. I believe they even have measurements marked on the side, especially handy if you're trying to store or exchange a specific amount :) ~MissGD
