They will stop selling when we stop buying.

Truth^. Also, if you only grew a small crop, would you just throw it away instead of making money? I mean it all depends on how much a grower has grown. The less they grow the more likely they are to keep it in the batch. If they grow on a very large scale they might not even notice a little bit of mold. But either way, yeah it sucks to be on that end of the deal.

You seem to put us all in this unethical category, which is your mistake. Most of us would never do such a thing. However, we can probably guess where you are, from your problem.

think of this in a different context

if every 3rd time i went to a wendy's drive thru, somebody shit in the bag - would my continued frequenting of that establishment be a sign that i either don't care if somebody shits in my bag, or that i actually kinda like it?

in conclusion, poke around in the bag before you drive off. turds aren't that hard to identify.

Well this is a weird post.

As if there were a collusion among IC growers to pump out bad bud for greater profit.

On the contrary, lots of threads in the grower's forum trying to keep PM and mold at bay!

Damn shame that happened man, makes growers look bad. And bad news travels fast.
I concur that you should check the packs before leaving, but there are unethical people in all walks of life.

I train all of my trimmers to spot mold, and I usually end up losing an ounce or so to mold per crop. Fortunately I also make QWISO so I usually just process moldy nugs with their corresponding trim bag.

Though every bud of mine is bucked by hand before being machine trimmed, it is possible in large batches if a nug or two got into a pack, but if this ever happened (it hasn;t yet) I would also make it right with whoever it happened to. Wouldn't you want someone to do that for you?

Good karma doesn't grow on trees, weed does. Just like preventing PM, I try to prevent bugs, I flush thoroughly, screen out all the popcorn and smaller, cure as long as possible and pack sacks overweight.

As Julian says, fuck the product and the money, it's easily replaced. A good day is when everyone goes home happy and healthy at the end of the day. Grow ethically and work ethically, and party however you please! :)

Put aside all of your moldy buds and get your receipt, you've got a return to make.

Any moral grower, when presented with his own mistake, should make good on it for you. Try this first before lambasting the grower. If it were me, I'd give you 2x back to make it good.

Hear, hear...another aspect the OP doesn't realize, is that in most cases the grower is also a smoker...me personally, I wouldn't/couldn't trust a room, for me or anybody else, that showed the slightest sign of PM/mold, what have you.

Powdery mildew is a form of mold.

But a wet, moldy bag, is different than some PM in it--
If properly dried, the PM will die...(Not saying it is harmless, just that it will not continue to grow without moisture--)
A moldy bag is much more harmful than a li'l PM...and a lot easier to prevent...ie: Dry your weed!!:tiphat:
(Not getting into your comment to Krunch...just wanted to comment--:peek:)

The "dead" PM that you speak of is now in spore form. (Prior to that, it was living hyphae + fruiting bodies that produced the spores. Now it's just spores.)

That's the same as saying that bud rot in the center is okay as long as it's fully dried out and the once-living & spreading mold is now dead, only leaving behind spores and dead hyphae & fruiting bodies.

And I see your point--
I was talking about the difference between a bud engulfed in mold, and a li'l PM-- Of course, if the PM is extreme, then it would be the same...but you usually will only find a little here or there-- Most (honest) growers will try and keep it in check...but sometimes when you have a 100lb+ crop...it is easy for some to be there, without you even knowing--
But really, I was just commenting because I seen what Krunch meant by his post..."PM" gives you a different visual, than "Moldy Bag" does...so they cannot really be called the same--
Peace--:tiphat:

So just because one form's hyphae and fruiting bodies are ugly and easy to spot (once cracking the bud open) makes it not okay, and the other form is less easy to spot w/ the naked eye and not as harmful looking to the naked eye is okay and not to be considered mold or harmful?

Judge a mold's evil by the uneducated naked eye appearance? Is that how we go about it? If it doesn't look especially heinous, it must be safe & okay, right?
