3.5x3.5 closet w/ air cooled hood...HPSorCMH?? Seperate T5 for Veg...

Hi Everyone

Building my first 2 rooms, gonna have a 3.5x3.5 closet in basement w/ 8" Magnum and 737cfm inline can-fan for flower...and will have a separate veg room w/ a T5 setup. I just have a few questions on lights.

Im growing 12 plants perpetual 4-6 in/out and cant decide which light setup would be better:

(a) 4ft 4 bulb t5 for veg room and 400w CMH for flower.

or

(b) 4ft 2 bulb bulb T5 for veg and and a 600 HPS for flower about the same wattage.


Also is a 4ft 4bulb T5 enough light to veg 4-6 plants to be 18 inches or so tall???

Argument pro or con for using a CMH in flower, you're not going to find a better veg bulb. But, for that size footprint, the 600w HPS will cover it better than a 400w of either variety. Unless you opt for two 400w lights. Two of one or the other or even one of each.

2 400's in 3.5'x3'5 wont be too much? do you 4 bulb t5 will be enough for veg to have some nice size plants for flowering 4-6?

Two 400's equates out to about 65w's per sq/ft. A good range.

I have no experience with T-5's, but I veg with CFL'S for a week or two until they are big enough to go under one 250w CMH light and add a second 250 as they get bigger in just a 2x4 closet.

how many plants and what kinda yields are you getting if you dont mind me asking?

Usually four plants, but sometimes three. I don't weigh, but I'm guessing about a half g/w. Not all that good mind you, but I'm usually doing something (lol...intentional or not) to torture them.
