1600w 1st timer closet grow

My previous grow experience mostly containes one gurrilla grow last summer. Just a few plants, small yeild. This is my first indoor grow. Kind of ambitious for a first grow, but I'd like to bull 2lbs off of this.

My setup contains one 600watt and one 1000watt setup. Each five gallon pucket contains two plants, which were topped right away and then low-stress trained. The vegging time for many of these vary, but on average I'd say it's been between 1-1.5 months so far.

This is a closet grow, meansuring approximately 2.5ft (width) x 9 ft (length) by 9ft (height) containing 15 5 gallion pots and two 2 gallon pots. Multi-strain. 1/2 is Casey Jones, 1/4 Sensi Star, and the other 1/4 composion of White Widow, Amnesia Haze, Strawberry Cough and Ice.

Pics:

In setup, I had to raise the closet self as you can particularly see int the second. I also have a carbon filtered exhausting out the right wall.

A few questions: what is a realistic, ballpark goal for this sort of project? How long should I veg? I don't mind vegging longer because once this grow is finished, I'm done until I find a new living situation. But if I let this veg to long can it hurt yield? I was thinking about letting them grow an extra foot or two beflore flowing.

Longer veg = More roots = Bigger BUDS... Fill up the full space before u switch to 12/12..

Just remove small branches... try to just have big colas.. small branches just take energy from the plant..

If you have alot of time, you could flowering for 13/11 = 13 light, 11 dark...
This will give you bigger yield, but it takes about one week longer to finsh...

2-3lbs is possible...

Good luck!

Your plants look very healthy. I'm going to try and top a few of my strains and see if I can't get the bush look like you have here. Nice job.

Thanks for the comments guys. Here are some more pics:

Sorry the pics are bad, it's hard to get quality shots because of the shape of the closet.

I started flowering today, 12/13/10. Honestly, I wanted to let them go another week or two since I have a little space (and since I'm using 5 gallon buckets), but due to growing paranoia (hahaha), knowing they'll need at least another two months is more than enough.

Fortunately, there's been significant growth in the past 2-3 days, at least under the 600 watt HPS.

Thanks man, good advice. How much does removing the small branches help? What if I harvested it in two parts, top once, then let the lower branches go for another week or two? I know this is a fairly common technique, but I'm not sure how that relates to letting smaller branches stay or go. Or would yield be the same or better if I removed the smaller branches, despite letting the lower half of buds go an extra week or two? And 13/11 only takes a week longer? What sort of yield increase are we talking? (I know it's all speculation, but I'm wondering if 13/11 would be closer to a 5% increase or a 15% increase in yield). Can you recommend any threads that discuss 13/11?

Sorry for all the questions. ;)

Insane strain here.... just moved to fl. from "bretton woods" (twin mtn), quick question....i've been trying to find out for a while what nutritional value(if any) do peanut shells have in fertilizing soil ?? i crush up the shells and mix it w/ my soil, about two mos. before i am ready to grow. i have not used them yet (next grow),but i am wondering if i will be helping/hurting my "babies"...
thanx for any info or advice you can give me... :tiphat:

Hey insane strain,

Sorry, I can't be of much help. I don't know the answer to your question - I'm sort of new to this myself. That being said, I don't think it'd hurt, but I believe there are better soil additions. Good luck.

About remove branches.. could be great but could also be shooking for the plants.. its ussly done in a SOG setups..

In your case I dont think it will effect your yeild... so u just might skip it...

You could harvest the big colas first, then let the small buds flowering for an extra week.. I think this will give you the best yield.

About 13/11 light/dark.. The yield often be equal to the time...

If it takes 10% longer to finsh your yield will be about 10% more..

Here you got a good benefits...

Lets say you have veg for 8 weeks...
Flowering for 8 weeks.. (with 12/12)

For an exempel after 16 weeks you have a 1000g harvest...

Now we use 13/11

8 weeks veg
9,5 weeks flowering...

Total 17,5 weeks and you probably will yield atleast 1100g...

I always use 13/11 when the final yield is the most important..
And the time is not so important...

In your case I think 13/11 would be a great idea..

Good luck!
